Conference of Entrepreneurship
Yet another conference in JECRC ! Yet another exercise for minds ! A conference centering entrepreneurship was held in JECRC in July. It was conducted in JECRCs conference room and went house full. Nothing less than an interaction between the students and the speaker, it was a fresh chance for JECRCians to let their minds fly high and showcase their creativity in the form of cool and fresh ideas. After all how can JECRCians let go the opportunity to let our minds enjoy the undying spirit of challenges? Students brimming with ideas came up with some splendid ones noticeably one in which a cell phone was detecting diabetes. Isnt it simply amazing ? Emphasis was laid on the triangular link between entrepreneurship, industries and engineering. Light was thrown on utilization of resources from robotics. Video clippings were shown with examples from daily life especially from fields of agriculture and healthcare. It was followed by a discussion on the future aspects of JECRCians. In fact, the speaker also invited the JECRCians to the University of Albania under students exchange program.
Mr. Ballmer filled the environment with zeal & vigor with his speech
It was really amazing to see him talking so animatedly and ardently to the young minds, telling them his real life experiences, which were astounding and worth learning from. His visit has been fruitful and students got the golden chance to learn and JECRCians were those opportunists who were blessed with this golden opportunity. Being a part of MICROSOFT INNOVATION ALLIANCE [MIA], JECRC was cordially invited to attend the seminar. No doubt, JECRC FOUNDATION is committed to provide a global exposure to its students.

WORKSHOPS
Q & A column
(from 1st edition)
Q1. I secured 90% in GATE, I am in a dilemma about the institution to choose which will be good in the Research field.
Hackaholic , JECRC organized this workshop, not only JECRCians but many corporate people of the town, proffesors from other universities and students of various colleges marked their presence and learned the concept of cyber security and ethical hacking by the guru himself.
Ans. Choosing an institution is not the point if you are really interested in research. Point is - the field you are interested in, you should find out which professors are working on the similar technology/subject and contact them for the same. Mostly this kind of working is done when you want to do PHD but as your interest you can do it now. if you are interested in teaching then M.Tech is a very good option other-wise its a waste of time. - Abhinav Krishna Mittal
Q2. I am confused whether to do MBA after 4 years of technical education or continue to be in technical field only i.e. M.Tech.
Ans. the best thing to do after B.Tech is to find a suitable job for you. M.Tech is better then MBA in current scenario but if you get selected in a very good college then MBA is the best. After doing a job for 3 years you can judge what is better for you not now. - Rahul Sharma

FULCRUM
When one comes on counting the people who are erudite enough to get their hands on the most astounding manifestations, then the arrow directly points towards the "FULCRUM a renowned group innovated in UDML college by students of ME branch on 1st of oct 2010,and the first drop which was poured in this vast ocean of knowledge was contributed by Ankit Dhingra, 2nd year student of ME branch. It is colligated under the society SAE-INDIA, an engineering society for advancing mobility land sea area and space. The team has turned a 3.3 cc nitro racing engine controlled car and have done the break-inn of the engine themselves. Team has showed excellent engineering skills in the fabrication of the IC engine radio controlled car and thus conducted a workshop on RC cars, its construction, functioning of various parts and their individual importance. The workshop conducted by the team received an overwhelming response from the first year students and many aspiring mechanical engineers of 1st year got themselves registered in the FULCRUM. The secret of getting ahead is getting started and the team FULCRUM has started to make a mark now.
The tournaments motive was to exhibit the team spirit and sportsmanship of each individual of the various participating teams. There were total number of seven matches played between the teams emerged from the different branches. The confidence and willpower of the players that was witnessed, was just remarkable. The overall experience was quite enjoyed by the gathering. The delight was brimming over the viewers. The cricket field was always overcrowded with spectators enjoying each and every single moment of the matches. The introductory day saw the first year students competing with each other to be victorious in the field. Following two days were for the competition among the II-yearites and III-yearites. The team spirit and sportsmanship were the traits that can easily be seen within the participants. The whole enthusiasm and determination of the players, was just remarkable. On the last day of the event, Mr. Arpit Agarwal and Mr. S.L. Agarwal visited the sports complex and motivated the players. Also, the winners and the runner-ups were provided with the cash prizes, given by the sports-in-charge, Mr. Kr. Vijay and the respective sports coordinators.
XANANOIDS
An extreme BiographyOne of the most influential student of JECRC, who , with his colleagues , had introduced a base for the students having interest in robotics . Having immense interest in digital electronics , embedded systems, robotics etc., had started a robotics club, named XANANOIDS at JECRC. Also, he was a keen member to participate in Renaissance and other activities at the college. He is an alumnus of 2006 batch, Mr. Mohit Jain. He is presently working as a Senior Engineer at Honeywell Technology Solutions, Inc. Here is what he has to say about initiating the well known club at JECRC, the robotics club- XANANOIDS. JECRCians possess a certain quality, of self belief, of confidence, and an undying desire to do it all and achieve it all. This exact thought has been behind the birth of Xananoids. It all began in the summer of 2004 when I stumbled upon an advertisement on TV calling for teams to participate in this national Level Robotics contest Robocon. I liked the idea of creating a Robot and representing JECRC on national level amongst various institutes like NIT'S and IIT's. And so I pitched the ideas to a couple of batch mates and we had a team. We pooled in some money for the machine and for registration fees and started to build the robot. Trouble was none of us had ever done anything like that before, and the task ahead of us to make a completely autonomous machine was huge for three, naive 2nd year students. None of us knew how to program a microcontroller or how to control a motor. But after 3 months of dedicated efforts, and 2 disastrously failed models, we were able to make a machine that could be controlled by a computer. We decided that we could mount the entire motherboard on the robot and control it. Also By this time we had run out of all the money we had pooled, and more which our then HOD Mr. Manish Agarwal had arranged for us. We still needed two computers for our robots and more money to travel to Ahmadabad, the contest venue. We took the first prototype to college and pitched the entire idea to Arpit Sir. Arpit sir being the visionary that he is , immediately saw the potential .Not only were we provided with the two computers to be used The ROBOCON 2005 team as we wished ,but were also provided with funding and a mentor teacher to go with us. We went to Ahmadabad, participated and were able to go through the first qualifier. But most importantly we learned from others. And we knew that the next year when we come, we won't go out easily. The first experience set the tone for remaining years, we always learnt and built upon, next year we went and camped in Mumbai for 1 month to buy mechanical parts and electronics and controllers, and everything else that was needed. In Robocon 2005 we gave good competition to many teams. Also in 2005 we had added many brilliant minds and we had grown into a 10 member team. And this was the year we came up with the name Xananoids. "Xana"- means "extreme" and "noids" is representative of Robots. Hence Xananoids -"extreme robots". Also this was the year we created the Robotics Lab to carry out all our activities. Next year we participated in numerous other Robotics competitions and won many prizes. We formed 4 separate teams and participated in a robotics competition at IIT rookie. We bagged all 3 top spots and also the title of Best Technical College. 2006 Robocon was very special for us. We had an excellent design and the machine was very accurate. Right from Round 1 we were the favorites. The machine would score maximum points every time it went out. For this effort we bagged the "Best Autonomous machine award ". Xananoids not only brought us all these prize and recognition, but also changed the lives of all it touched .I and Subhash started our careers at a Robotics startup which recruited us from the floors of Robocon 06. Ritukar, Chandra Prakash and many others still work in organizations developing Robots. Sourabh Vaya runs an electronics venture Vaya technologies. I started a venture called anykits and served some very interesting clients in the film Industry like Prime Focus Ltd and designed Robotic characters for the movie Love story 2050 . Although anykits is now closed, I am still hooked for life to robotics and microcontrollers .I currently work as a Senior Engineer (Automation and Control) with Honeywell.
Xananoids Achieving HeightsIn year 2010 XANANOIDS represented JECRC at Thappar University and was declared winner in 3 major events which were advance path follower, under water submarine and landrover. Development of latest cost effective bots like advance room counter, metal detector and separator. The XANANOIDS members has worked on object pick up with live streaming. This advance robot can be used commercially and for surveillance also. The 1st year students of the group have won around 10 major competitions held in various colleges of Jaipur during diff Technical fests. Recently Xananoids have collaborated with Gridbots Technologies which is an incubated company of world renowned management institute IIM Ahmedabad and is working for defense of Indian Government. With this collaboration the students will be given hands on training on the latest technologies of Robotics Engineering and also they will be given some industrial projects to work upon. Ongoing projects:-GPS based automatic pesticide sprayer Smart wheelchair and baby strollers to avoid accidents Robotic arm Keyboard interfacing to control devices

With most of the needed clubs already there in the college, if we could include a foreign language class, for example for French, German, which may help us in our professional lives as well. Moreover a class for the students who are good at programming, to increase their level above the standard ones.
Q. What was your experience of your first major event of the college ?
Y first major event of this college has been the engineers day. Being the first event of my college life it has been Remarkably an extravagant event, taking a stand and adding to the best of my memories. The event brought forth both the 'happy-go-lucky' and 'heart warming' attitude of the jecrcians. On the 15th day of september, i witnessed engineer's day. It was extremely good. Every first year student enjoyed this event. There was a huge participation From first year. We made posters, decorated the college, some of us prepared for cultural events. I had a chance to do the anchoring and enjoyed my task very Much. We had a great experience and we learnt various skills.

SIZZLERS
It was one of those days when everyone beside you is swamped and the only work you have, is to look at them and say to yourself- I am THAT hopeless! The day had come. The first examination after joining college. I admit I was no child prodigy in terms of studies, but somehow, I managed to do well every time. This was different. My stomach felt different, which was partly because of the fact that my major dietary supplement was Bikaji Aloo Bhujia. Beside me was Alok, hell-bent on finishing the entire physics book. I could hear himTwinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are It seemed strange, but chanting it somehow gave him concentration power or something. A gift from the stars, maybe. Suddenly, Rahuls alarm buzzed Sheila, Sheila ki Jawaani.. He was our third roommate and not the most sincere one. On the spur of the moment, Alok lost itWake up! I swear if I hear Sheila ki Jawaani again, Ill dump your phone in monkey shit! How? Is your shit still fresh?, fired Rahul, getting up. Thank the heavens Im not kicking your ass right now. We have an exam in one hour! OH! THANK YOU, HEAVENS. THANK YOU FOR SAVING MEFROM ALOK SHARMA! mocked Rahul. Youre gone!, screeched Alok, as he got up and chased Rahul all over the room. The day had begun, just like any other. You prepared Rahul?, I asked. Yup. Offcourse! I will go there and rock the examiners world. Unit one, left hand chest pocket, unit two, underneath the belt, and yeah, Im wearing one. Unit three- Oh wait- where was unit three!, cried Rahul, turning back and reaching out inside his underwear, apparently in despair. Why dont you make a chit to keep a track of all your chits, you reatard? taunted Alok, justifiably not in his best mood. Ooh! Orang-utan got brain!, said Rahul, dancing like one. Alok was just about to begin the chasing game once again, whenHey guys, I tried to get some attention; Im not that sure about Unit-4. Hearing this, Alok fidgeted, hurried off to his desk and began yet again-Twinkle, Twinkle little star As all of this was happening, Rahul smeared. He had a strange smile. Behold, my brother, as I present to you- UNIT-4! He reached out to his back-pocket and handed me an obnoxious piece of paper, folded several times and probably not even made by Rahul. Now, I have sacrificed my childhood dream so that YOU can rock the examiners world. Take good care of it! You cannot expect me to cheat, Rahul!, I exclaimed, angry as ever. As the three of us reached the examination hall just on time, I noticed the two invigilators. One was our Maths teacher, around 50, but looking as old as the Indus Valley civilisation. We often joked that his head resembled that of Iron Man, bald and shiny. Surprisingly, accompanying him was a beautiful and sexy Rita Dixit, in a bright blue saree. She had just joined, fresh out of college and was so famous amongst us boys, that Rahul even wrote a poem for her once. Something beneath my socks made me notice all this. My pledge towards honesty had been nuked! As I wrote my paper, twinkle, twinkle little star often crossed my mind. But I did my best to supress it. And then, I was finished. Everything done. Except Unit-4, which had two questions. The first question, I wasnt very sure of and the second one, I had no bloody idea. I did know one thing though, the answers to both were hiding in my socks. Should I? Should I not? I was sweating. I looked around. Rahul was suspiciously staring at his belt. Aloks lips were moving. I was pretty sure as to what he mightve been humming. The guy in front of me had just exchanged answer sheets with his partner, and was somewhat in shock. It then struck me. What the hell! I slowly reached for my socks with my left hand. I glanced around and scratched my legs twice or thrice, to make it look natural. My face was probably all red. Then I craftily took out the shabby piece of paper. I was just about to open it when I saw something blue move in front of me.
