LESSON PLAN

Mathematics Form 1 1 Lesson Theme / Topic 2 Learning Objectives 3 Learning Outcomes Angles Students will be able to: a) Understand the concept of angles. Students should be able to: a) Recognize angles b) Denote and label angles c) Measure angles using protractors d) Recognize, compare and classify angles as acute, right and obtuse. e) Use key words with search engine(s) to search for relevant information in the Internet. f) Use the printer to print out the worksheet. 1 It is easier for the teacher to adjust the Teaching Aids according to the students needs. (Speed and automated function) 2 It is faster and more convenient for students understand using ICT interactive (interactivity and provisionally) 3 It is more interesting and practical for students to surf the Internet to gather information. (Capacity, speed, interactivity, provisionally) 4 Students will get access to a lot of Information from the internet without having To go anywhere. 5 Time Allocation 6 Class Characteristics a) Form 1 b) Prior Knowledge 1 Above average in their Mathematics basic knowledge. 2 Students know how to surf the internet 40 minutes

(using URLs with browsers and also using key-words in conjunction with search engines) 3 Students have already known how to look for (and open) files in MS Word and MS Excel as well as how to use the courseware kits. 4 Students already know how to use the printer. 7 Curriculum Coverage This lesson plan covers the subject matter as specified in the Mathematics Curriculum Specifications (Form 1) 1. Download the suitable program to use as teaching aids from the Internet. 2. Surf the Internet for a suitable webpage to use as a teaching aid. 3. Prepare worksheets interactive in MS Excel and worksheet in MS Word. 4. Prepare a Power Point presentation module. 1 Use PowerPoint presentation to show pictures relate to angles due to our daily life. 2 Use the Internet to surf for download information related to angles. 3 Use the courseware kits to show the angles. 4 Use Flash Program to measure angles using the protractor. 5 Uses the MS Power Point recognizes the angles and classifies the angles. 6 Uses the MS Word to make worksheet and MS Excel to make interactive worksheet. 1 The teacher has to use the skill of hyper linking to link from one document to another 2 Teacher uses relevant keywords with search engines to look for information related to angles. 3 Teacher needs to know how to create MS PowerPoint and MS Excel presentation so the skills of drawing, custom animation, etc are needed. a) Teacher use a Power Point presentation to

show pictures of angles in daily life. Students are prompted to identify angles in the class room.(eg. Corners of tables, blackbords, windows, clock hands and open doors). The teacher shows the MS Power Point to introduce the concept of angles and how to denoting and namely the angles. Teacher demonstrates how to use a protractor to measure angles and students try to measure a few given angles Teacher demonstrates how to use the Flash program Whatsmyangle to estimate and measure angles (using the interactive screen protractor) and students then use the program to test their understanding of angle measurements The teacher then uses PowerPoint slides to show the classification of angles into acute, right, obtuse and reflex angles. Teacher asks students to do the Excel Interactive Worksheet Teacher asks the students to log on to the given internet URLs , reminding them not to go to any websites other than the one given by . Teacher then asks the students to do the MS Work worksheet and print out their their work.

12 Teacher Activity a. Presents the power point slides showing pictures of angles in daily life. b. Prompt students for ideas and opinions about the angles. c. Presents the power point slides showing the diagram to introduce concept of angles.

13. Student Activity a. Guessing what the kinds of topic will be teaching by the teacher. b. Students respond by giving appropriate object in the classroom relate to the angles. c. Students watch the slides and try to grab the message.

d. Presents the power point slides showing how to denote and naming the angles. Asks the students to open MS Excel and look at the questions e. Use the activities for demonstrating the use of protractors to groups. The activities are designed to be used through computer monitors. F Presents power point slides showing classifying of angles

d. Students respond by trying to answer interactive worksheet using MS Excel.

e. Investigate and test yourself on the use of protractors using interactive flash program to measure angles using protractor.

f. Student watches the slide and tries to grab the massage. g. Students log on to the internet using the URL and search engine and try interactive game in the internet to check their concept understanding. h. Students follow the teachers instruction step by step and finally print out the worksheet as homework. A list of glossary of mathematical terms because some of the students may not understand the mathematical terms used in English. http://www.media.pearson.com.au/schools/cw/au_sc h_mcseveny_nsm56_1/int/angles.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/revisewise/maths/ shape/15_act.shtml
