Information technology is reshaping the basic of business. Customer service, operations, products and marketing strategies and distribution are heavily or sometimes entirely depend on information technology. Information technology and its expense have become an everyday part of business life. An information system (IS) - or application landscape - is any combination of information technology and people's activities that support operations, management, and decision making. In a very broad sense, the term information system is frequently used to refer to the interaction between people, processes, data, and technology. In this sense, the term is used to refer not only to the information and communication technology (ICT) an organization uses, but also to the way in which people interact with this technology in support of business processes. As such, information systems interrelate with data systems on the one hand and activity systems on the other. An information system is a form of communication system in which data represent and are processed as a form of social memory. An information system can also be considered a semi-formal language which supports human decision making and action. Information systems are the primary focus of study for the information systems discipline and for organizational informatics.

Introducing the Information System: An information system can be defined technically as a set of interrelated components that collect process, store, and distribute information to support decision making and control in an organization. In addition to supporting decision making, coordination, and control information systems may also help managers and workers analyze problems, visualize complex subject and create new products. Information systems contain information about significant people, place, and things within the organization or in the environment surrounding it. By information we mean data that have been shaped into a form that is meaningful and useful to human beings. We know that todays business fully depends on information. If any organization competes with global market successfully then this company must collect more information regarding their business. Information systems have become essential for helping organizations deal with changes in global economies and the business enterprise. Information system provides firms with communication and analytic tools for conducting trade and managing business on a global scale. Information systems are the foundation of new knowledge based products and services in knowledge economics and help firms manage their knowledge assets

Dutch Bangla Bank Limited. Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) is Bangladesh's most innovative and technologically advanced bank. DBBL stands to give the most innovative and affordable banking products to Bangladesh. Amongst banks, DBBL is the largest donor in to social cause sin Bangladesh. It stands as one of the largest private donors involved in improving the country. DBBL is proud to be associated with helping Bangladesh as well as being a leader in the country's banking sector Dutch-Bangla Bank started operation is Bangladesh's first joint venture bank. The bank was an effort by local shareholders spearheaded by M Sahabuddin Ahmed (founder chairman) and the Dutch company FMO .From the onset, the focus of the bank has been financing high-growth manufacturing industries in Bangladesh. The rationale being that the manufacturing sector exports Bangladeshi products worldwide. Thereby financing and concentrating on this sector allows Bangladesh to achieve the desired growth. DBBL's other focus is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Even though CSR is now a clich, DBBL is the pioneer in this sector and termed the contribution simply as 'social responsibility'. Due to its investment in this sector, DBBL has become one of the largest donors and the largest bank donor in Bangladesh. The bank has won numerous international awards because of its unique approach as a socially conscious bank. DBBL was the first bank in Bangladesh to be fully automated. The Electronic-Banking Division was established in 2002 to undertake rapid automation and bring modern banking services into this field. Full automation was completed in 2003 and hereby introduced plastic money to the Bangladeshi masses. DBBL also operates the nations largest ATM fleet and in the process drastically cut consumer costs and fees by 80%.Moreover, DBBL choosing the low profitability route for this sector has surprised many critics. DBBL had pursued the mass automation in Banking as a CSR activity and never intended profitability from this sector. As a result it now provides unrivaled banking technology offerings to all its customers. Because of this mindset, most local banks have joined DBBL's banking infrastructure instead of pursuing their own. Even with a history of hefty technological investments and even larger donations, consumer and investor confidence has never waned. Dutch-Bangla Bank stock set the record for the highest share price in the Dhaka Stock Exchange in 2008.DBBL was established under the Bank Companies Act 1991 and incorporated as a public limited company under the Companies Act 1994 in Bangladesh with the primary objective to carry on all kinds of banking business in Bangladesh. DBBL commenced formal operation from June 3, 1996. The Bank is listed with the Dhaka stock exchange limited and Chittagong stock exchange limited. DBBL is most widely recognized for its donations to social causes and its IT investment (largest ATM network). However it has recently stated that it will stop expansion on its ATM network as the current numbers 7have exceeded demand and hence diminishing returns (if any). Although it is widely believed it is a loss making/ subsidized unit which DBBL rationalizes as quasi CSR Mission Dutch-Bangla Bank engineers enterprise and creativity in business and industry with a commitment to social responsibility. "Profits alone" do not hold a central focus in the Bank's operation; because "man does not live by bread and butter alone". Vision Dutch-Bangla Bank dreams of better Bangladesh, where arts and letters, sports and athletics, music and entertainment, science and education, health and hygiene, clean and pollution free environment and above all a society based on morality and ethics make all our lives worth living. DBBL's essence and ethos rest on a cosmos of creativity and the marvel-magic of a charmed life that abounds with spirit of life and adventures that contributes towards human development.

To define the security and control requirements to protect the firm in relation the protection of the network perimeter. To provide security guidance to system administrators to ensure the continued secure management of network perimeter infrastructure as per our central banks security policy. Security Controls: The security controls are properly applied to reduce the risks associated with connectivity to external/internal networks. The implementation of connectivity with external/internal networks is properly authorized, authenticated, monitored, encrypted and managed by IT staff members that are properly trained in networking technologies. Firewalls: Firewalls are the primary line of defense between external networks and the DBBL internal network. The following procedures set about providing security benefits, and further boost the performance of the firewall infrastructure To limit the number of applications that run on the firewall in order to let the firewall do what it's best at doing. Consider running antivirus, content filtering, VPN, DHCP and authentication software on other dedicated systems behind the firewall. On the interface that connects the firewall with the choke router, drop all inbound packets whose source address originates from the DBBL internal network (in order to deter IP "spoofing"), and implement an access. filter that prohibits an intruder from logging onto the router in the event the proxy firewall is breached. To ensure that physical access to the firewall is controlled. Regularly monitor the firewall logs. Treat the logs as business records. In addition, it ensures the continuous health and performance of our entire infrastructure to meet ever-changing business demands. DBBL Database Management System: This system proactively manages and alert on database performance across the IT infrastructure, regardless of whether the database is located within physical, virtual, or cloud environments. The benefits are as under: Identify and resolve performance issues quickly with the ability to monitor and triage different databases without necessarily being an expert on each one Help us reduce risk to services by accommodating site-specific requirements needed to monitor within specialized environments Effectively collaborate with our IT operations for fast problem resolution-right information, in the right context Bangladesh Automated Clearing House (BACH): This is one of the revolutionary projects of Bangladesh Bank, the central bank of Bangladesh. There are two components of the project-Bangladesh Automated Cheque Processing System (BACPS) and Bangladesh Electronic Funds Transfer Network (BEFTN). To provide the benefit of this electronic clearing, DBBL has installed MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) scanners in all of its 60 participating branches. This ensures the clearing of funds against an instrument deposited (for another bank) by noon in any of the 60 branches in Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna, Barisal, Bogra, Rangpur and Narayanganj areas within end of business of the same day. Another 30 branches are in the process of bringing under BACPS umbrella as per Bangladesh Banks rollout plan. BEFTN is the other part of the project which enables an account holder of Bank-A to transfer funds from his account to one or more accounts in Bank-Bs branches.

Dutch-Bangla Bank is proud to initiate BEFTN transactions as first Bank in Bangladesh on the opening day of BEFTN. The BEFTN is getting very popular gradually as a secure, fast and cost effective tool to do the following: Individual Funds Transfer between two or more branches of two or more banks Corporate funds transfer between banks as trade finance Payment of remittance (foreign or local) Payment of govt. or other organizations salaries Payment of pensions, other allowances Payment of Refund warrants, dividend warrants Realization of loan installments, insurance premium, utility bills etc.

New initiatives: The bank has successfully introduced or upgraded some important projects in the year 2011. Remittance Software To transfer the hard earned foreign remittance sent by our expatriates to their near and dearones at home, DBBL has developed a Remittance system which ensures a fast transfer of money from the remitter to the beneficiary. New Data Center Keeping in view the large number of accounts and customers, the bank has started to setup a new Data Center with state-of-the art design, security & robustness. The leading servers from IBM & Sun, network equipments and accessories from Cisco have been used in the new Data Center. Switching Software In line with the banks continued expansion of ATM network, DBBL is in the process of upgrading its Switching Software. In 2011, the switching software has been upgraded with more robust, flexible and more dependable features. Green IT: The Govt. of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Bank are encouraging Green banking in the country. Bangladesh Bank has issued guidelines on green banking and Environmental Risk Management (ERM). In line with this, DBBL has automated all the internal correspondences, circular, MIS, reporting, loan origination and assessment systems. DBBL has also sent the half yearly balance confirmation to its valued customers electronically and/oremails which has saved printing of a huge quantity of papers thereby contributing substantially to the DBBL from the very beginning is promoting the use of debit and credit cards for payments of goods and services

and at the e-commerce site for online shopping. These processes have also eliminated use of bank officials and paper in banking services environment.

Limitations of Information system of Dutch-Bangla Bank The bank is using the IS very efficiently and increasing its profitability, but still there are many things that should be improved. Its mainly customized by their own employees.Thats why it takes low level responsibilities. Management cannot use this software for market analysis, hypothesis testing or client segmentation. However these software has some new features, but that should be more developed. Using of this software is rarely new. So, it needs more time to make itself as an international standard. All things in the world are limited with their works. It may be organization or any powerful creation. So, this limitation is natural. For this reason, Dutch-Bangla Bank has some limitations which are the great impediment about their information Technology. The fundamental barriers or limitations of information are as follows: Lack of adequate Banking On-Line resources: Dutch-Bangla Bank is a new invented and updated Banking system. They are trying to equal with other developed countries Banking system but it has not adequate On-Line resources. ATM booths servicing problem: Most of the time some machines are out of service. Lack of money in ATM booths. No deposit machine. No POS machine in brunches. Use back-dated software. DBBL use high range software but skilled technicians are not available in Bangladesh. For any kind of software problem bank has to contact with a software company which located in other country which hamper the banking system. The network frequency in Bangladesh is not good. Some time it dose networks. Fiber optical is not fully operated in Bangladesh. so sometimes the server does not work. If the server does not work the ATM network is stopped. The present software is not capable to store huge volume of data. DBBL has 12 luck clients but the software capable to store only 3 to 4 luck client data. Presently bank operates their activity by increasing RAM.

Suggestions: There are some suggestions for developing Ducth-Bangla Bank Ltd is as follows: Need the software to be upgraded. Appropriate maintenance and regular monitoring of ATM booths are required. Need additional human resources. Machinery need to be up-dated. As an On-Line banking system POS is essential in each brunch. To save time, deposit machines should be installed in ATM booths. Effective and quick networking system is to be operated. Use Easy accessible to on-line banking system.

Conclusion To sum up, it can be said that though the Dutch-Bangla Banking system has some lacking in operating the banking activities electronically, It has introduced a new beginning in the effective banking system and is playing an important and pioneering rule to make people interested in online banking system. DBBL will keep its expansion of strong IT infrastructure in the days ahead. DBBL believes that with a strong technology driven setup it shall be able to extend world class banking services to the valued customers. DBBL is striving to introduce all the latest technologies being adopted in this sector worldwide. The bank has never hesitated to invest on this sector to keep the interest of the customer secure, safe and yet affordable. This endeavor will continue in future with all co-operations from the respected clients.
