First Steps: Installation of SAP ERP enhancement package 2005.1

This First Steps document gives you an overview of the various sources of information that are available for the delivered SAP product SAP ERP enhancement package 2005.1. It contains important information and current amendments to existing documentation (such as SAP Notes and Internet addresses). Furthermore, you find a short description on how to access SAP Service Marketplace and where you can find help for the delivered SAP product.

A) First Steps to Installing SAP ERP enhancement package 2005.1

If you do not yet have a user for the SAP Service Marketplace, create one as described in section B.1) Prerequisites for the Use of the SAP Service Marketplace. Read the SAP ERP enhancement package 2005.1 Master Guide and mySAP ERP 2005 Master Guide. (SAP ERP enhancement package 2005.1 is an add-on based on SAP ERP 2005.) On the basis of the mySAP ERP Key Capabilities you require, determine the necessary mySAP ERP software components/instances and the corresponding system landscape. If you are planning to upgrade existing software components, read the additional information in the mySAP ERP 2005 Upgrade Master Guide. The most current versions are available on the SAP Service Marketplace. For more information, see section B.3) Documentation. The SAP ERP enhancement package 2005.1 Master Guide is also shipped on paper. It makes reference to the Installation Guides required for the installation. Please ensure that you always use the most up-to-date version of the documents. Apply directly before the installation the most current Support Package Stack (as minimum requirement the mySAP ERP 2005 Support Package Stack 7 and if you need ERP VALUE PACK HR 601 Support Package 11 for EA-HR 6.00 (SAPKGPHD11) and SAP HR 6.00 SP11 (SAPKE60011)). You will find further information on the Support Packages in section B.4) Support and Maintenance. Before you start to install or upgrade the first system, you have to install the SAP Solution Manager. It is required for technical reasons during installation and upgrade of mySAP ERP 2005 systems. For more information, see section B.5) SAP Solution Manager. On the basis of the Media Information units in the SAP ERP enhancement package 2005.1 Master Guide and mySAP ERP 2005 Master Guide, determine which of the packages data carriers you require to install or upgrade the relevant mySAP ERP software components. Run the installation or upgrade of the software components as described in the installation/upgrade guides or installation/upgrade notes.

B) Important Information and Sources

B.1) Prerequisites for the Use of the SAP Service Marketplace Requesting a User ID for the SAP Service Marketplace To request a user ID for SAP Service Marketplace, see service.sap.com and in the frame on the lower right (Questions Regarding Login), choose New User? Register here! Note that you need a valid e-mail address and the customer or installation number, which you find on the delivery note of this shipment. The user ID enables you to access all SAP information and support channels. This user ID also enables you to create customer messages. For more information, see SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/message. B.2) License Keys When installing an SAP system, a temporary license key, which is valid for four weeks, is created automatically. You must apply for a permanent license key immediately after installing your SAP software (for more information, see SAP Notes 94998 and 870871). To do so, see SAP Support Portal at service.sap.com/support Keys & Requests License Keys or at service.sap.com/licensekeys. You need the authorization LICENSE KEY ASSIGNMENT (for more information, see SAP Support Portal at service.sap.com/user-admin). If you have any problems or questions regarding license keys, create a customer message for component XXSER-LIKEY, in case of problems regarding user administration create a customer message for component XX-SER-SAPSMP-USR. "License Keys & License Audit" is part of this shipment. It contains the complete documentation as well as important information about the license auditing tools and the preparations you need to make for license auditing. B.3) Documentation Master Guides The SAP ERP enhancement package 2005.1 Master Guide and mySAP ERP 2005 Master Guide are the starting point for planning a mySAP ERP system and component landscape. They contain information about a minimum mySAP ERP landscape, the required software components for mySAP ERP Key Functional Areas, the installation sequence, the data carriers required to install or upgrade mySAP ERP software components, and so on. The mySAP ERP 2005 Upgrade Master Guide is the starting point for planning of upgrades in a mySAP ERP system and component landscape. For example, it describes for defined processes the steps required to upgrade the individual software components, the upgrade sequence, and sample system landscapes.

B.4) Support and Maintenance SAP Notes The SAP Service Marketplace contains SAP Notes detailing solutions for known problems or providing additional information. You can search for and read SAP Notes at service.sap.com/notes. Customer Messages If you encounter problems when installing, upgrading, or running SAP ERP enhancement package 2005.1, create a customer message on the SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/message. Maintenance Strategy Mainstream maintenance for SAP ERP enhancement package 2005.1 ends on March 31, 2012. For more information about the maintenance strategy, see service.sap.com/maintenance. Support Package Stacks All available SAP Support Packages and patches for SAP ERP enhancement package 2005.1 can be downloaded from the Software Distribution Center on the SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/patches (see below). You are advised to always install the latest SAP Support Package stacks, which group a set of SAP Support Packages and patches. Support for Partner Products While running SAP software, you may encounter errors that are caused not by the SAP products, but by the database, operating system, hardware, or other application products. Note the following when requesting support for such problems: Case 1: The product was purchased through SAP This includes the following: Java Virtual Machine CrEme for PocketPC, specific mobile device drivers approved by SAP, the database IBM DB2 Everyplace for SAP MI 2.5 and the databases MS SQL Version > 7, Oracle RDBMS, Informix Online server, DB2 UDB or application products (for example, from Requisite). In this case, SAP is your contact for support and we assume responsibility for finding a solution together with the product vendor within the scope of the SAP Maintenance Agreement. Case 2: The product was not purchased through SAP 1. This applies to all other products, such as all operating systems and hardware, as well as the database IBM DB2/400, non-SAP application products, and database administration tools/functions, if applicable. The contact for support for these products is the product vendor. If the error was originally reported to SAP, SAP Support forwards the message concerned to the respective partners support organization. SAP has agreements with all partners that clearly define the procedures for forwarding these customer support messages. Note that the partner only provides support if you have a valid support contract with the product vendor for the product in question. Note also that the service times (weekends and nights, for example) are an important component in this contract.

Check whether your support contracts match our partners recommendation or the abovementioned conditions and, if required, contact the partner or service-provider for the partner products directly. B.5) SAP Solution Manager SAP provides you with SAP Solution Manager as the platform that supports the implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of mySAP ERP 2005. Using SAP Solution Manager enables you to fully take advantage of SAPs support services and gives you the opportunity to leverage the broad spectrum of SAP's support and continuous improvement offerings. During the installation process a SAP Solution Manager system is required to generate the SAP Solution Manager Key for the installation/upgrade of mySAP ERP 2005 SR2. Without this key, the installation process cannot be finished successfully. The generation of the required key is available with SAP Solution Manager Release 4.0 SR1. In your mySAP ERP project, perform the following activities inside SAP Solution Manager Define your Solution Landscape Connect existing systems to enable EarlyWatch Alert Define those business processes that are affected by mySAP ERP 2005 Additionally, SAP recommends: Documentation, configuration, and test of the previously defined business processes Train end users via SAP Solution Manager If you are using SAP components based on the JAVA stack: Install and use Solution Manager Diagnostics for root cause analysis The most up-to-date documentation is in the SAP Help Portal at help.sap.com SAP Solution Manager. Accelerated Implementation of mySAP ERP 2005 The Implementation Content delivers SAP's comprehensive knowledge on implementing integrated, cross-component business scenarios. It complements the functionality delivered with the SAP Solution Manager. You can make use of this knowledge during your implementation or template project by taking the pre-delivered implementation content as the starting point for your project scope. If you have any problems or questions relating to the download, create a customer message under component XX-SER-SAPSMP-SWC. SAP Download Manager You can use the SAP Download Manager to download software from the Software Distribution Center. It is available on the SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/download-basket Get Download Manager. If you have any problems or questions relating to the SAP Download Manager, create a customer message under component XX-SER-SAPSMP-SDM. Ordering Software on CD or DVD As an alternative to downloading software from the Software Distribution Center, you can also order software on CD or DVD from the SAP Software Shop on the SAP Service Marketplace. If you have any problems or questions relating to ordering, create a customer message under component XX-SER-SWFL-SHIP. B.7) SAP Upgrade Info Center The SAP Upgrade Info Center, which has been developed among others, particularly for mySAP ERP, contains structured information according to target release about the preparation and implementation of a release change to mySAP ERP (i.e. SAP ECC 6.0). It has an overview of useful tools, contents, and services on offer from SAP for the upgrade. One example is the SAP Upgrade Roadmap, which you can use to plan and monitor your project (in conjunction with the SAP Solution Manager). To access the SAP Upgrade Info Center, go to service.sap.com/upgrade-erp.

B.6) Special Information for Ramp-Up Customers If you encounter any problems in the <Name of Shipment> Ramp-Up phase, report them as usual as customer messages by using the SAP Message Wizard in the SAP Support Portal (service.sap.com/message) and indicate the messages as Ramp-Up message. During the RampUp phase, technical support is provided directly by the SAP development. For information about the Ramp-Up process, see the SAP Service Marketplace: service.sap.com/rampup. If you have particular questions concerning the SAP Ramp-Up process, enter them in a customer message using the component XX-SER-RAMPUP. For a successful implementation of your project we offer our Ramp-Up customers to take advantage of the related SAP Online Knowledge Product for free. SAP Online Knowledge Products are online-training materials for the latest SAP Solutions and products. They contain delta knowledge on new functions of the software, implementation knowledge and guidelines for your project. You receive role and task-specific online learning material for the implementation of your project, such as Live sessions with SAP experts (WebEx) Online demonstrations (SAPTutor) Presentations with recorded audio speech (eBooks) Documentation Self tests Notice of recent updates of the content How to subscribe for the SAP Online Knowledge Product: Send an e-mail to rkt@sap.com. Name the product/solution you are implementing. Provide the S-User IDs (for SAP Service Marketplace) of up to 10 of your consultants engaged in your project. Access to the SAP Online Knowledge Product is then granted immediately. B.9) Miscellaneous Using MDMP (Multi-Display-Multi-Processing) MDMP is not support anymore as of mySAP ERP 2005.Please refer to SAP Note 79991. Hence you must convert your MDMP R/3 Enterprise or MDMP mySAP ERP 2004 system in Unicode as otherwise an upgrade to mySAP ERP 2005 is not possible. Also note that a blended codepage or MDSP is not an alternative all statements for MDMP are also valid for blended codepages or MDSP (including all restrictions, see SAP Note 73606). Single codepage systems (non-MDMP/not-blended codepages) are not affected by the mentioned measures. An upgrade of these systems on mySAP ERP 2005 is possible without a Unicode conversion. Single codepage systems are generally supported through mySAP ERP 2005 (with the restrictions named among others in SAP Note 858869 and SAP Note 838402).

SAP recommends the usage of Unicode particularly when first installing (please see SAP Note 838402). Information for Asian Language Versions For extensive information about Asian language versions, see SAP Note 749760. Customers who install the Japanese version are required to change the adjustment parameters for the Japanese address layout, as detailed in SAP Note 639035. Important Note for Customers Using Database Platform DB2 for z/OS mySAP ERP 2005 runs on the basis of SAP NetWeaver 04s and requires DB2 V8 and DB2 Connect V8.
