Activity 1 (10 mn) Level 1 only Homework correction, encourage everyone to participate and share their answers with group Re-explanation of some grammatical points if needed. What we are learning today

Activity 2 (10 mn) Ici, cest lavenue des Champs Elysees- explanation of new words, write on board with english meaning Go through each places (p.8) -Group repeats each sentence after teacher. Teacher goes around each student, pointing a place on the book and then student. Listen to CD, student listen each student and then fill up sentence-

Activity 3 (20 mn) Comprendre et parler (To understand and to speak) Comprendre: conjugate, write on the board, group repeats after teacher Je comprends/tu/il/elle/vous le francais, litalien, langlais, le japonais, le chinois. Teacher asks each student to repeat individually by pointing a word from board. Parler: conjugate, write on the board then group repeats after teacher Je parle francais, anglais, etc. Teacher goes around, ask each student Pair up: practise what you have just learned. Je comprends le francais et vous? Je parle anglais, et vous? Tell me which languages your partner speak and or understand Elle parle francais, elle comprend le francais Il parle francais, il comprend langlais. It s ok to lie about which languages you speak ! We just want to practise our prunciation!

Activity 4 (20 mn) Introducing negation Ne...pas Je ne comprends pas litalien, je ne parle pas anglais, je ne suis pas japonais. Repeat as a group after teacher, then each student repeats one sentence of their choice. Ex: je ne parle pas langlais et vous? Student answers- then teacher repeats with each studentPair up, practise those three sentences Elle nest pas francaise, il ne parle pas anglais, elle nest pas australienne.

Pair up and practise, teacher to go around and listen each person talking about their partner. Ex: je ne comprends pas langlais, je ne parle pas francais, je ne suis pas japonaise Elle ne comprend pas langlais, elle ne parle pas francais, elle nest pas japonaise. Present your partner in front of class using those 3 sentences : Voici Claire, elle ne comprend pas le japonais, elle ne parle pas francaise, elle nest pas chinoise.

Activity 5 (15 mn) listening activity Listen to dialogue twice without the book- each student completes dialogue Then listen once with transcript p.170- explanation of new words Read dialogue (teacher) then each student takes turn in reading Excusez moi- sil vous plait, etranger (3 new words) (Explanation of those words after 1st listening) For level 1+2 Intensive, instead of correcting homework at start of lesson, do ex 5-6-7 p.178practise as a class, then individually.

Activity 6 (15mn) New vocabulary+ homework cathedrale, chateau, place, ocean, ile, explanation of vocab, exercice to finish at home. Completition of dialogue page 9 Ex 10-11-12-13 p.4
