Introduction: Cellular respiration, which is the process utilized by cells to obtain energy from the oxidation of organic compounds accompanied by the consumption of oxygen (when available) and the release of carbon dioxide. Respiration is the process that breaks down complex carbon compounds into simpler molecules and simultaneously generates ATP used to power to other metabolic processes. II. Objectives: 1. To find out what flask formed white precipitate after two days 2. To find out if carbon dioxide is released during respiration III. Materials: 2 two (2) dozens of germinating mongo seeds 2 gauzes 2 250ml Erlenmeyer flask 100ml Calcium hydroxide/ 100ml water/ IV. Procedure: Flowchart:
1 WRAP two dozens of germinating mongo seeds in two separate gauzes and tie each with a thread.

V. Results: White Precipitate Roots Ca(OH)2 Present More roots H20 Absent Less roots

Explanation: The results showed that the mongo seeds suspended in the flask containing Calcium hydroxide/ gave rise to more roots than the mongo seeds suspended in the flask containing water/ . It was also observed that the white precipitate was present in the flask containing Calcium hydroxide/ . VI. Conclusion: The white precipitate found in the flask containing Calcium hydroxide/ was actually Calcium carbonate/ . The following equation will explain the reason for the presence of Calcium carbonate/ : Thus, it is shown in this equation that Carbon dioxide/ is released during respiration.
