WELCOME LETTERS

Welcome from the 2011-2012 HNBA National President Saludos! On behalf of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), and I as its 2011-2012 President, it is my pleasure to invite you to join us at this years 2nd Annual HNBA Tennis and Golf Charity tournament in Miami, Florida, benefiting the HNBA Legal Education Fund, on Saturday Feb 4th, 2012. I am immensely grateful to our event chair and host, the HNBA Region VIII President, Teresita Chavez Pedrosa, for her tremendous investment in time and effort in organizing the 2nd Annual Tennis & Golf Charity tournament. Our presence in Miami in February 2012 will mean we individually made the decision to invest our time and resources to raise funds and the visibility of our sister organization, the HNBAs charitable arm, and thus, generate funds to assist and further educate the future Latino (a) attorneys of the next generation. I am sure that you will discover that your support and attendance to this HNBA event will be enjoyed by all, but also a very wise investment. Last years attendees enjoyed great weather, great friendship and exciting competition between the players. The inaugural Tennis tournament generated the funds that the HNBA Legal Education Fund used to award the largest amount of scholarships in HNBA history for the winners of the HNBAs 16th Uvaldo Herrera National Moot Court Competition this past March in New Orleans, Louisiana. We anticipate raising more money at this years Miami event and promise to break yet another HNBA record in scholarships handed out at the 2012 HNBA moot court competition to be held at the HNBA Midyear Corporate Counsel Conference in New Jersey. The HNBA is the voice of the Hispanic community and as such, we are advocates for those we represent. During the Year of the Advocate, the HNBA will provide leadership, education, advocacy, and guidance to three essential areas of our population. We will be advocates for the profession, the community, and the children. As such, it is imperative that we have a clearly delineated plan to best serve our members by creating, modifying and promoting initiatives to enable our organization to achieve the highest level of influence. As members, we must rededicate ourselves to the mission of the HNBA. As the voice of the Hispanic community, we must serve those that cannot speak for themselves. We will not rest in our efforts for legislative, judicial and executive advocacy. We have come a long way, but our work is not finished. Lets stand together and be an HNBA advocate in the upcoming year. I thank you in advance for your support of the 2nd Annual HNBA Tennis & Golf Charity tournament in Miami, Florida. I look forward to enjoying this wonderful event together and raising the funds needed to help the law students. Benny Agosto, Jr.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of The HNBA Legal Education Fund (The Fund), we are pleased to invite you to one of the HNBAs marquee events, which exclusively provides financial support for HNBA charitable and educational programming, including pipeline initiatives such as scholarships for law students. I commend the HNBA leaders for their strategic vision in organizing this event. In particular, HNBA Regional President Teresita Chavez Pedrosa whose leadership was instrumental in the success of this event last year. She came up with the idea and flawless executed its implementation. Now, it is one of the HNBAs annual national events. Ms. Chavez Pedrosas commitment to HNBA pipeline programs led to the expansion of this years event which will also include a golf tournament so that more of us can enjoy camaraderie and financially support HNBA pipeline programs. She has the full support of the HNBA Board of Governors and that of HNBA National President Benny Agosto, Jr. in addition to the HNBAs sister organization, The HNBA Legal Education Fund, which is the only IRS Section 501(c)(3) entity that supports HNBA charitable and educational programs. Through this event last year, the HNBA and The Fund were able to raise over $23,000.00 that financially supports charitable and educational programs, including moot court scholarships. In fact, The Fund was able to donate the most scholarship monies ever awarded at the 16th Annual Uvaldo Herrera National Moot Court Competition in the events history. Knowing the expense of a law school education, the Board of The Fund is committed to raising additional monies this year because the need is great. We hope that you will join us in this endeavor. Sincerely,

Romn D. Hernndez, Esq. Chairman of the Board of Directors, The HNBA Legal Education Fund

HNBA 2011-2012 National President

2012 HNBA TENNIS & GOLF TOURNAMENTS

DESIGNED TO BE A GETAWAY: South Florida days in February arent too hot, and the
evenings are mild. While 2011 Tournament participants enjoyed a beautiful day, headlines throughout the country read like this: An upper level low moved across... during the early morning hours of February 5th producing a swath of 3 to 6 inches of snowfall. If you need a place to stay, dont worry, the HNBA will set aside a room block at a hotel that provides the greatest value, and is close to the rest of the Miami action! If you must get some work done while in town, let us know and we will be happy to accommodate you.

DESIGNED FOR NETWORKING: When was the last time you were at a bar reception
trying to start a good conversation or escape a bad one? Relationships flow naturally among teammates. We even help you mix it up and get around. We create teams according to player skill and career path. An ideal team may have at least one judge, law student, in-house counsel and lawyer in private practice or other combination of distinguished HNBA members. On the tennis courts, we let you play with nearly every other team as we follow a round robin format. How many new connections can you make? You tell us at the end of the day.

DESIGNED TO BE INCLUSIVE: We are excited to add golf to the 2012 HNBA Tournament!
We will have a domino tournament and other activities for friends that want to spend a great day with us, but neither play tennis nor golf. Our Florida Affiliate the Puerto Rican Bar Association will be back in 2012, hosting a Wii Tournament. Florida has many great Hispanic and nonHispanic bar organizations. Our Tennis & Golf Tournaments were also designed for them as an event during which our organizations and members could get to know each other.

DESIGNED TO BE ENJOYED! Relax! After a full days work out enjoy our bar and happy
hour camaraderie. Watch the tennis finalists play on the Sony Ericsson Center Court where the pros compete. Stay for the awards ceremony, be inspired by our keynote speaker and enjoy a delicious dinner before our DJ turns it up! We want you to keep your strength, so we feed you right throughout the day. No continental breakfasts or boxed lunches here. A restaurateur caters our event, and serves up buffets with a varied breakfast, a warm lunch (brunch for golf players) and a full dinner.

DESIGNED WITH A PURPOSE: Muchas Gracias! By supporting our event, you have helped raised scholarship monies for The HNBA Legal Education Fund, which gives away thousands of scholarship dollars each year for deserving Hispanic youth. How expensive is a legal education? High enough to be prohibitive for many Hispanic students. In Florida for example, annual tuition costs alone are generally as follows:
University of Miami Law . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $38,919 Ave Maria Law School . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $35,948 Florida Coastal Law . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $35,302 Stetson School of Law . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $35,146 Barry Law School . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $33,630 Nova Southeastern Law . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $32,750 St . Thomas School of Law . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $32,328 University of Florida Law . . $18,709 (Fl. Residents) . . . $28,920 (Non-Residents) Florida A&M Law School . $10,312 (Fl. Residents) . . . $29,573 (Non-Residents)

DESIGNED FOR CORPORATE SPONSORS/DONORS: There are many opportunities

for corporations and law firms to partner with the HNBA on the success of this program, including sponsorship of the Tennis & Golf Tournaments. If your organization wants to support the HNBAs charitable and educational endeavors, such as pipeline programs, it has the option of making a tax-deductible donation directly to The HNBA Legal Education Fund - which is an IRS Section 501(c)(3) entity. You will still receive full recognition as a Tournament sponsor, and receive the perks applicable to your level of contribution. See sponsorship matrix attached.
