1. Title
Productivity improvement trough process improvements

2. Introduction
The apparel industry plays a pivotal role as a key driver of Sri Lanka's national economy. The apparel manufacturing industry has grown to be the most significant contributor over its four decades of existence and it is the strongest manufacturing sub sector in terms of its contribution to industrial production, foreign exchange earnings, and employment generation.

Today, the garment industry is becoming more and more competitive. The competitiveness increased due to increased market access. Therefore the cost factor plays a major role in the existence of the factors. The principle of price setting is that the market is to increase profit a company has to lower its cost determines the selling price. Low costs can give a company a competitive advantage. Reducing eliminates unnecessary process and improving process are an obvious solution to be competitive through pricing.

When, unnecessary process are low and process are improved the production lead time will be decreased. As a result Productivity will be increases.

3. Aim

In this research, I wish to decrease unnecessary process and long time consuming process by identifying and studying garment manufacturing process.

4. Objectives
To identify the reason for unnecessary operations Reduce unnecessary operations Reduce cost per minute To establish effective and easier process increase productivity

5. Justification

Study garment manufacturing process

improving process mean productivity will be high When use improved process production lead time also short, helps to more customer satisfaction
Reduction of CPM makes higher profit margins Satisfaction of the customers give more orders More orders and higher profit margins help to survive the market

6. Problem
Unnecessary and long production process Couse less productivity and loss of profits.

7. method
The hypothesis of my research is Better process helps to meet good productivity.

I will be doing the research in 3 factories of branded apparel manufacturing groups. Quantitative methods adopted for data collection. Using past records & literature survey will collect data. Studying total garment manufacturing process of each factory. After that find unnecessary operations and way of eliminating that process. The data will be analyzed of the cutting department, production, work-study, technical, finishing & HR departments. When considering the data include 2 months past data as well as 2 months of future data. All data will be analyzed to understand the relation between productivity and manufacturing process. Recommendation will be done after Considering the all result derived from the study

8. limitations

Data will be collected on from 3 factories Studying process cutting department to finishing department only

Data will be collected from only 3 lines in each factory Lines will select randomly.
