-ordship and s bmission are closel! related terms. The t!pes of relationship depend on the means in #hich the relationships ha$e been established" the reasons for their e3istence" the attit des of those so related to one another" and the commitment and longe$it! of the relationship. Lordship4 The stat s of a man #ho has considerable po#er" a thorit!" or infl ence o$er others. Submission2 (ielding. or readiness to (ield2 a #illingness to !ield or s rrender to somebod!" or the act of doing so. %ondser0ant2 a ser$ant" bo nd in ser$it de to another" a sla$e ='iblical definition establishes this relationship to be life8long and formed beca se of a comittment of lo$e 5 (3od s 21458D>

Eelationships of lordship can be of at least three general +inds4

1. The first is a relationship bro ght abo t b! force #here other one or ones are forced into in$ol ntar! s bmission to another indi$id al or gro p" especiall! that of militar! force. 0ther t!pes of in$ol ntar! and forced s bmission or sla$er! nfort natel! e3ist aro nd the #orld in man! forms. The second is a relationship bro ght abo t b! need and generall! a m t al e3change of fa$ors" goods" or ser$ices. :t is not entered into b! force" b t oftentimes the conseF ences ma! be as destr cti$e and e$il as those relationships established b! force. This can come abo t b! a person #ho themsel$es or #hose famil! is in desperate need and #ho sells themsel$es into prostit tion or other +inds of forced labor to tr! and pro$ide for the needs. ConseF ences of this t!pe of relationship are generall! as destr cti$e" and sometimes e$en more so" than some bro ght abo t b! force. The pimp G prostit te and prostit te G c stomer relationships come nder this t!pe. *ost t!pes of general emplo!ee G emplo!ee relationships also fall here" b t fort natel!" the conseF ences of this t!pe of relationship are generall! m ch better" b t not al#a!s. :n most cases length of ser$ice depends on the #ill of either part!" and generall! both are benefited =or belie$ed benefited> in one #a! or another. Some emplo!er G emplo!ee relationships are of this t!pe" b t nfort natel! not as man! as sho ld be. The e3treme of this t!pe is the biblical t!pe demonstrated b! &od %imself in %is relationship #ith %is creation" and #ith &od,s *essiah" 6esh a %a*ashiach" Christ Bes s o r -ord. Eelationships of s bmission can also be of the same three general +inds4

1. S bmission bro ght abo t in$ol ntaril! b! force" coercion" intimidation" or manip lation. 2. S bmission bro ght abo t $ol ntaril! b! need #here one !ields their #ill" generall! b! !ielding their time and ph!sical effort" to acF ire something desired in ret rn. Attit des and conseF ences can $ar! to and from an! e3treme. Sadl!" man! marriages in$ol$e this t!pe of partial to complete s bmission of a length of time to acF ire some desired or needed res lt. This is often the best man can do alone apart from &od. @. Third is total" $ol ntar!" and complete s bmission not onl! of one,s actions and time" b t of one,s #ill" bro ght abo t b! lo$e" and best #hen it is bro ght abo t b! lo$e in response to lo$e recei$ed. This is ho# the -ord has called each of %is children to respond to %is lo$e. :t is a mat re" informed" and determined choice of see+ing to set aside the personal #ill and onl! act on the choice of the 'elo$ed" ma+ing the #ill of the 'elo$ed o r personal #ill. This #ill sa!s" Ta+e me" :,m !o rs2 9o to me" #ith me" and thro gh me #hate$er !o desire. *! onl! desire is to do !o r #ill. Ta+e me" change me" and do #ith me as !o please. *! greatest /o! comes onl! in doing !o r #ill" no matter #hat the personal cost or conseF ences are to me. 1his is the submission of a"a 2 that God desires wives to dis lay in their relationshi with their own husbands, b t is impossible in !o r o#n strength apart from the #or+ of the %ol! Spirit in !o r life.

The relationship of a bondser$ant" as a biblical definition" is a lifelong commitment
