Imagine what your life would be like if everyone of us live in the houses with the exact same design,

layout, and color. We all eat the same food and drive the same kind of cars. Moreover, you dont even own anything that you produce. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything. Hello everyone. Today Im going to be talking about the person who was the leader of the soviet unionJoseph Stalin. Joseph Stalin, was born in Gori, Georgia on 21st December, 1879. As a child, Joseph experienced the poverty that most peasants had to endure in Russia at the end of the 19th century. He also had a very troubled childhood. Later on he joined a Marxist organization where he took part in strikes and violent attacks. Lenin, who was leader of the Communists during the Russian Revolution, admired Stalin for the hard work he did for the party. He helped Stalin reach a high position in the Central Committee of the Communist Party. Later on, Stalin became the sole leader of the Soviet Union by eliminating anyone who was against him. The Soviet Union at that time was under many problems such as food shortage, lack of medical facility and housing problems. The nation was desperate for a change. Stalins leadership style is completely autocratic. He got rid of anyone who questioned his actions. Every citizen in the country is constantly being monitored and someone could be killed by saying something against him. Anything against his authority was not tolerated. People had no freedom at all besides their thoughts. Here is an example of Stalins strict policy: During a celebration of Stalins birthday held in a small town. Even though Stalin was not even there, there were still speeches and celebrations. Just before the celebration was about to end, the mayor of the town rose and exhorted his fellows to one last cheer for the evening to the honor of Stalin. The applause continued for minutes without stopping and nobody dared to stop the applause. As time passed by an old man collapsed. Finally the mayor allowed his arms to drop and the noise died. The next evening the mayor was sentenced to the gulag, and no charges were ever spoken against him. As he stepped into the train, a party official whispered into his ear, "Never be the first one to stop clapping." We can see from this story that Stalin is unethical, unlikeable and not open to feedbacks. He did not take any opinions from the people of the country and he had absolute power over everything. These characteristics of Stalin are the critical obstacles which makes

him a unsuccessful leader. However with his cruel and strict policy, Stalin quickly gained complete control of the entire country and he was able to maximize the sufficiency of all the resources and energies throughout the country. The Soviet Union immediately saw many improvements such as industrial and agricultural development. Stalins decisive, focused, and tactical traits definitely allows him to become a successful leader. In conclusion, even though there are cases where an autocratic leader brings success to the group he is leading, it is very rare for such leaders to remain popular among the people he is leading. This type of leadership is helpful when needed, such as in a emergency situation. However a good leader would be a person who respects the opinions of his employees while making a decision.
