The best way to define social media is to break it down. Media is an instrument on communication, like a newspaper or a radio, so social media would be a social instrument of communication. In Web 2.0 terms, this would be a website that doesn't just give you information, but interacts with you while giving you that information. This interaction can be as simple as asking for your comments or letting you vote on an article, or it can be as complex as Flixster recommending movies to you based on the ratings of other people with similar interests. Think of regular media as a one-way street where you can read a newspaper or listen to a report on television, but you have very limited ability to give your thoughts on the matter. Social media, on the other hand, is a two-way street that gives you the ability to communicate too.

Lesson 7: Tues: Evaluate: Tues Nov 23rd Project Handin - final day for editing Google Doc
Welcome to the Handin day for your creations and completion of all aspects of the Computer Technology design cycle. I whole-heartedly look forward to viewing your creations over the next two days. To go with my previous email, here is a check-list for your final handin: 1. Investigate Stage: Have you answered all the questions to the best of your ability? Have sourced your three (3) definitions of Social Media using the MLA citation method correctly? 2. Design Stage: Social Media Diagram Have you completed your Social Media diagram? Is it inserted into your Online Social Media doc? Are the arrows accurately depicting your interaction with Social Media? 3. Plan stage: Spreadsheet Is this completely up-to-date? Thoroughly completed? If you had to change parts of your Planned work have you justified your reasons for the changes? Colourful and neat? 4. Create Stage: Creation You must handin by 5pm today. Jump drive? Email attachment? Upload to YouTube? How will Mr. V receive your final product. Take note of the size of the file you are hadning in. You must make a plan and let Mr. V know. 5. Evaluate stage: Blog Are your blog entries up to date? Did you reflect on your learning? The blog is your reflective area, not the area to state what you did, but rather what you learned and any new course of action you may have had to take. Is your spelling and grammar correct? Have you written with a voice? Would someone outside our class find your blog informative, interesting and well written? Could you add a picture or two on one or two posts that reflect your learning/thinking? Is your blog attractive to the eye?
