e right now your thinking, God isn't meeting my need right now I'm really hurtin g right now and it seems like God doesn't care. There is an answer to this dilem ma and it is found in Mathew chapter 7 verses 7 and 8 where it says, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knoc ks, the door will be opened." So do you need peace, ask God for peace. Need joy, ask God for joy. When you ask however remember these two things. !) Pray accord ing to God's will. In James 4:3 it says, "When you ask, you do not receive, beca use you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasure s. 2) Have faith in your prayer. James 1:6 thru 8 says "But when he asks, he mus t believe and not doubt because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown a nd tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from t he Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does." Remember these two things and you will receive all that you ask for. And when you do recieve remem ber to give the glory to God who answers all your prayers. Proverbs 11:8- The righteous man is rescued from trouble, and it comes on the wi cked instead. They are satisfied right where they are. Jesus has a name for these types of Christians and it's found in the book of Revelation chap ter 3 verses 15 and 16. "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth." Wow!! God doesn't seem to thi nk that we are ok just where we are. In Young Life they compare the Christian wa lk to walking up a down escalator. The minute you stop walking you start to go d own. The author of Hebrews talks about advancing your faith, here is what he has to say (ch 5 verse 11 and ch 6 verse 1) "...by the time you ought to be teachin g, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over ag ain. . . . Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go o n to maturity..." These verses are designed to challenge you. If your looking to grow in your relationship with Christ why don't you try this. Pick one verse an d make that your verse for the week. Read it and pray that God would help you to grow in that area. After doing this everyday for a week you will probably have memorized the verse and you will have grown in that area of your relationship wi th Christ. Then pick a different verse for the next week. 1 Peter 2:12- Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visi ts us. 1 Peter 3:15-17- ...Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks yo u to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously agains t your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. 1 John 2:28- And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. James 1:19,20- My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring a bout the righteous life that God desires. James 1:22-25- Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do w hat it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a mean who looks at his face in a mirror and after looking at himself, goes awa y and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently int o the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this not forgetting wh at he has heard, but doing it-he will be blessed in what he does. Philemon 6- I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you wil l have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.

God definatly has a great se nse of humor. I feel I must make mention of something before you read the humoro us verses. The Bible is written by men but it is actually God's words. Therefor we say the Bible is divinely inspired. This means that God let these people know what he wanted them to write, either by telling them directly or by putting the words in their head. These verses are funny because they are taken out of conte xt. Each verse has an important meaning and if you read more of the surrounding verses you will see the important meaning of each verse. Proverbs 31:6- Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in an guish.

Every o nce in a while there are certain words, phrases, or sentences that appear in som e of the manuscripts but not others. The King James version contains all of the words even if they are not in all the manuscripts. However the NIV sometimes mak es a footnote of these words or phrases, that did not appear in all the ancient manuscripts, instead of putting them in the normal text. Usually this is nothing because it is only one or two words but sometimes they leave out whole verses, and instead make them footnotes. So your reading verse 14 then all of a sudden y our reading verse 16. Oh no, where did verse 15 go. Don't worry theres a footnot e of it at the bottom of the page.
