HACKNEY COALITION TO SAVE THE NHS MODEL MOTION

LABOURS MANIFESTO COMMITMENT ON THE NHS This branch welcomes the public support of the Labour Party leadership for the repeal of the Health and Social Care Act. We urge the Party to intensify its campaign to publicise the implications of the Act including the handover of hospital and other services to private companies - and the devastating results for patient care. We further call upon the Labour Party to commit the Party to repealing the Health and Social Care Act in its manifesto for the next election. This commitment should include a statement rejecting the principle that any qualified provider should be allowed to bid to deliver health services. This principle is central to the strategy of privatisation at the heart of the Act and paves the way for the mass sell-off of our health services to companies whose interest is in profits rather than patients. We call all on the Party to reaffirm its commitment to a universal, comprehensive, free public health care system.
