Duat Script

Loosely based on the Egyptian myth of Ra travelling the underworld - Duat. The story follows a young boy, who is unaware of his whereabouts, but understands he must travel through the mysterious land, or he will remain alone forever.
01 - the boy sits, stranded by a purple river awaiting safe passage through the land he is lost in. 02 - in the distance a silhouetted figure in a boat approaches. 03 - the boy swallows his fear in anticipation of hitching a ride with an unknown river creature. 04 - the boy sticks out his thumb, the monster returns a glare. 05 - the monsters boat heads towards the boy, the boy stands up. 06 - from a distance we see the boy board the boat. (silhouetted) 07 - the boat sails out of shot. 08 - the pair travel down the river together in silence. (the monster never looks at the boy, he gazes ahead at the river constantly). 09 - the monster looks at the boy and says "you have no voice, I can fix that" 10 - the boy looks up 11- the monster grabs the boys head and pins him backwards. 12 - from afar we see the boy struggle, before he blacks out, a trip out scene is seen from the boy's mind. 13 - the boy awakes to find his mouth has appeared. 14 - he lets out a sound 15 - the boy confronts the monster. 16 - the monster tells the boy to sit as there is a waterfall approaching. 17 - the boy faces the bow to see a powerful waterfall ahead, and the boat is heading straight for it! 18 - in one fell sweep, the monster pulls his umbrella propellor out the water, whilst grabbing the boy in one hand and dragging him out the way

of the falling water. 19 - as the boat moves away from the waterfall, the boy looks at the monster's umbrella in amazement and says "what is that thing?" 20 - "that's my umbrella propellor," the monster explains. 21 - "you're weird," replies the boy. 22 - "We are all a little weird and lifes a little weird." the monster states. 23 - "can i have a go" says the boy. 24 - as the boy takes control, a serpent is seen following the boat, 24 - montage of boy and monster bombing river in boat, having a laugh, luckily dodging serpent attacks on the way. 25 - the boy and monster get to a shore, the boy stands looking at what's ahead whilst the monster pulls the boat in. 26 - the serpent takes his chance to attack, like a hot knife it dives through the monsters chest, killing him at the precise moment of hitting is heart. 27 - the boy runs to the monster, and tries to wake him up. 28 - the serpent tries to kill the boy but he retaliates with the umbrella propellor. 29 - injured the serpent slinks away, whilst the boy mourns the death of his new and only friend in this strange world. 30 - a beetle crawls out the monster's mouth, and in a cosmic fashion enters the boy's heart. 31 - the boy sums up the courage to continue his journey. 32 - the boy finds a tree split in two. 33 - upon the middle stump sits a baboon creature. 34 - the baboon turns, and announces the toll of crossing through his passage. 35 - the baboon places a feather on one leaf, before ripping the boy's heart out and placing it on the other leaf. 36 - the boy, shocked he hasn't died, tries to contest, and explain.

however the baboon is only interested in how the objects balance. 37 - the heart weighs more, and starts to tilt down. the baboon turns crazy summoning a soul devourer to eat the boys soul. 38 - the boy points the umbrella at the soul devourer, both the baboon and soul devourer look shocked to see it. 39 - the monkey inspects the umbrella, before turning to the boy with an glare of accusation. 40 - the boy points to his heart, using sign language to roughly explain what happened. 41 - the baboon pushes his ear to the heart. 42 - his frown turns upside-down as the baboon appears to hear something in the heart. 43 - with a couple of knocks a beetle falls out 44 - the heart and feather balance, and the soul devourer disappears. 45 - the beetle begins to transform back to the monster. 46 - the boy looks up in awe. 47 - 'end scene to be decided.'
