Course Code Descriptive Title I. Course Description : : : AIROPER Airline Operations and Management

This course provides a comprehensive outlook on the history of aviation in the Philippines and its evolution to commercial air carriers. It allows the students to appreciate the study of airline operations, integrating it to airport management and the travel and tourism industry. Innovative and technological trends, current issues and challenges in the air transportation industry have been integrated to provide an updated curriculum for tourism students today.

Pre-requisite/s : Credit : Contact Hours per Semester : Prescribed Textbook : Aviation 1909-2009 A Focus on Airline Philippines. 2005.

II. COURSE OBJECTIVES: By the end of this course, the students should be able to: a. Understand the history and development of the aviation industry as a vital segment in the tourism industry; b. Know the principles behind flight itinerary planning and considerations in airline ticketing; c. Determine the significance of understanding the general aspects of airline service, its responsibility under the Contract of Carriage and the Classes of Services provided for by the air carrier; d. Distinguish the differentiated services of a regular/premium airline from a budget/low-cost carrier; e. Identify the importance of the passport, visas and other documents related to travel; f. Emphasize on the step-by-step Airport procedures involved in traveling abroad; g. Update information on aviation issues and future innovation and challenges;
