OUTLINE SPECIFICATION

PLUMBING SPECIFICATION FOR GENERAL CONSTRUCTION

1.01 WORK INCLUDED A. The work to be undertaken under this division shall consist of the furnishing of all materials, labor, tools, equipment and other facilities and the satisfactory performance of all work necessary for the complete installation, testing, and the operation of the plumbing system for the proposed building expansion in accordance with the applicable drawings and this Division of the Specifications consisting of but not limited to: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Sanitary sewer and vent system and connection to the existing sewerline. Hot & Cold water distribution & supply pipes to equipment and plumbing fixtures. Disinfecting and testing of the building water distribution systems. Installation of all plumbing fixtures, fittings, trims and accessories. Storm drainage system and their connection to the existing storm drain. Securing necessary permits and payment of necessary fees, incidental to the work contemplated herein. 7. Any and all other work involved in providing the complete operation of the domestic water supply system, sanitary plumbing system, and storm drainage system of the above named project. All works shall be performed in accordance with the requirement of all applicable laws, codes and ordinances of the municipality. B. The plumbing Contractor is required to refer to all architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical plans and specifications and shall investigate all possible interference and existing conditions affecting his work. C. The Contractor and all persons or companies providing labor, materials, or both for this project are specifically referred to the other Sections of the Specifications, and to the various other parts of the Contract documents which may affect the completion and payment of his work. In the absence of complete agreement among the subcontractors of the General Contractor (authorized by the Owner), supply dealers, or others affected by the construction of this project, the general Contractor is to be held responsible for the coordination and completion of all works. D. All plumbing work to be done and sizes of pipes to be used shall be in accordance with the NATIONAL PLUMBING CODE under the direct supervision of licensed Sanitary Engineer or Master Plumber. E. Submittal of one (1) year warranty. F. Submittal of As-built plans. 1.02 GENERAL A. DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS

OUTLINE SPECIFICATION

1. The contract Drawings and the Specifications are complementary to each other, and any labor or material, whether called for or not by both, if necessary for the successful operation of any particular type of fixture or equipment specified under this contract, shall be furnished and installed without additional cost to the Owner. The General Conditions Division of the contract Documents is also complement of these specifications. B. INTENT

It is not intended that the drawings shall show every pipe, fitting, valve and appliance. All such items, whether specifically mentioned or not, or indicated on the drawings, shall be furnished and installed if necessary to complete the system in accordance with the best practice of the plumbing trade and to the satisfaction of the Architect.

INSTALLATION AND WORKMANSHIP

1. All work shall be performed in a first-class and neat workmanship by mechanics skilled in their trades, and such mechanics and their work shall be satisfactory to the Architect. 2. The work throughout shall be executed in accordance with the best practice of the trade and in the best and most thorough manner under the direction of licensed sanitary engineer or Master plumber and to the satisfaction of the Architect, who will interpret the intent of the contract drawings and specifications and shall have the power to reject any work and/or materials which are not in full accordance therewith. 3. No piping in any location shall be closed-up, furred-in or covered before the examination and testing of same by government inspector, Owners, or their representative. D. PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS

The Contractor shall obtain and pay for all permits, bond, and inspection fees and shall be responsible for all penalties incurred by himself or his agents. 1.03 STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT A. All materials shall conform to the standards listed below:

1. Cast iron soil pipes and fittings ASTM-A74-66, CS-188-66 US Federal Specifications, WW-P-40IC as manufactured by Silva. 2. Caulking lead Federal Specifications-L- 156(1)-1946. 3. Galvanized iron pipes and fittings ASTM A-120- 66, ANSI Standard B-36. 1070, Grade B Schedule 40 manufactured by APO, Super or approved equal. 4. Bronze gate valves - Federal specifications-V- 58 (For sizes 2-1/2" and smaller). 5. Lead Sheet - Federal Specifications QQ-L-201. 6. Gate valves - AWWA C500-59 (for sizes 75 and larger).

7. Union Patents (malleable iron, for ferrous pipes): U.S. federal specifications WWU-531, type B, Zinc-coated. 8. PVC Pipes and Fittings- Commercial Standards CS 256-63 for water pressure pipes and CS 272-65 for Class DWG. B. ALTERNATE MATERIALS

1. Use of any material, device, fixture or appurtenances not specified in these specifications may be allowed provided, that such alternative item has been approved, in writing, by the Architect and provided further that if a test required by the architect to substantiate Contractor's claim for its suitability, the cost for testing shall be paid for by the Contractor. 2. In any substitution, all health and safety requirements shall be observed. 3. Request for permission to use alternative materials, shall be in writing, addressed to the architect, and copy furnished to the Engineers. Such requests shall be accompanied by, among others: a. Reasons for substitutions; b. Certificate of test indicating the quality, compared to those originally specified c. Cost comparison with those originally specified. C. PLUMBING FIXTURES AND EQUIPMENT

1. General: All bids to be considered shall include installation of all plumbing fixtures shown on the drawings and specified by the Architect. 2. Installation: a. All plumbing fixtures and equipment shall be installed free and open in a manner to provide easy access for cleaning, and shall be furnished with all brackets, cleats, plates and anchors required to support the fixture and equipment rigidly in place. b. After the installation of any or all the plumbing fixtures of the building, same shall be kept clean and in working order but shall not be used by anyone until the building has been formally turned over to, and accepted by the Owner. c. Fixtures fittings, trims, faucets, escutcheons, traps, water supply pipes and waste pipes that are exposed to view in finished aspics shall be painted with one coat of red lead primer and two finish coats of enamel paint, the color to be designated by the Architect, unless otherwise specified. d. The Plumbing Contractor shall be responsible for the supply of the fixture fittings (or trims) which are not provided with the fixture but required for complete installation. All fixtures, shall be carefully checked to determine the items which must be provided to complete the installation. e. All fixtures shall be provided with individual shut-off valve for cold water, water supplies so that any fixture may be separately controlled without affecting other fixtures supplied with the same distribution line. f. All flushometer valves shall be equipped with vacuum breaking devices.

1. Vent pipes when embedded in concrete shall be G.I. Schedule 40 ASTM A-120-65 2. All GI pipes used for water supply line buried underground shall be protected against corrosion by a suitable and approved method, such as coaster paint or asphalt acting on the outside walls. 3. Cast Iron soil pipes and fittings shall be: Waste/Soil Stacks ---- CISP Service Weight , Horizontal Runs ------- CISP Extra Heavy. 4. Where uneven settlement at pipe joints is likely to occur, use Gibault joint or other suitable flexible fittings. 1.05 DISINFECTION A. The entire water system shall be thoroughly flushed and disinfected with chlorine before it is placed in service. B. Chlorine shall be liquid chlorine or hypochlorite (HTH) and shall be introduced into the water lines in a manner approved by the Sanitary Engineer. C. Chlorine dosage provided shall be no less than 50 parts per million (or mg/l) of available chlorine and allowed to stand for 24 hours, after which the system shall be flushed with potable water until residual chlorine content is about 0.2 parts per million. All valves in the system shall be opened and closed several times during the chlorinating period.

D. The interiors of aground water reservoir shall be thoroughly washed and swabbed with chlorine or hypochlorite solution containing 200 parts per million (mg/1) available chlorine and allowed and stand for at least 16 hours, after which the tank shall be flushed with potable water before placing in service. Before washing and swabbing with chlorine solution, the tank shall be thoroughly cleaned of all debris, dirt, or dust to the satisfaction of the architects representative. E. The contractor shall furnish and pay for all devices, chlorine materials, labor, and power required for disinfection purposes. Disinfection shall be made in the presence of the Sanitary Engineer. 1.06 GUARANTEE The plumbing contractor shall furnish the owners a written guarantee covering the satisfactory operations of the plumbing installation in all parts for a period of one (1) year after date of acceptance. During this period, the Plumbing Contractor shall repair or replace any defective work and pay for any repair or replacement cost. 1.07 RECORD DRAWINGS

A. During construction, the Contractor shall keep a record drawing of all deviations between the work as shown on the engineers drawings and that which is actually installed. B. This Contractor shall secure from the Architect "sepia" sets of all plumbing drawings and indicate changes thereon in ink. He shall make a complete red of all changes and revisions in the original design, which exist in the completed work. C. The cost of furnishing above prints and preparing these record drawings shall be borne by this Contractor. when all revisions showing the works as finally installed are made, the corrected "sepia" sets shall be printed in two (2) copies and submitted for review by the Consulting sanitary Engineer and delivery to the Architect before final payment for the completed work will be made. 1.08 PUMPS General a) The specifications herein stated are basic guides only. Other items not so indicated but which are obviously necessary for the proper operation of the system as intended shall be supplied and installed, in accordance with accepted engineering standards. b) Manuals of operation and maintenance and list of spare parts shall be supplied together with the equipment. c) The supplier shall submit at least four (4) copies of pumps performance curves showing among others, the pump rating and pump efficiency, properly marked out. d) Accessories to be supplied for each pump shall include one non-slam type check valve and one gate valve of size of the pump discharge and rated 68 kg/sq.cm (150 psi). Also one pressure gage of capacity 0-10.5 kg/sq.cm. for each pump and pipe fittings necessary for complete installation. e) Price quoted shall include price of delivery of all quoted items to the jobsite, proper installation, and pump and motor installation dimension drawings. f) The brands, names, and place of manufacture of pump motor, valves controls and

all accessories where applicable shall be indicated in the quotation. Include also a description of the pump impellers being offered. g) A metal nameplate indicating in indelible letters the correct specifications of the pump and motor shall be properly attached to the assembly at a location such that the information written thereon can be conveniently read by all concerned. BOOSTER PUMPS FOR @ PUMPROOM @ GROUND LEVEL a. Number of Units : See Plans b. Type: Centrifugal Horizontal End Suction Split Coupled to an electric motor common base, suitable for pumping domestic water supply. c. Capacity of each unit: SEE PLANS d. Electric Motor Drive: 230 V, 1-phase, 60 cycles, open drip-proof. e. Motor Controls: Reduced voltage magnetic starter, H-O-A switches, overload, relays, alternators for automatic operation and to alternate pumps in service and possible simultaneous operation when one pump can not handle the load, in case of duplex units. f. Accessories: Vibration insulating hose connections at suction and discharge lines and pressure relief valve at discharge only.

Pressure relief valve : To release pressure at 7 kg/cm 2 . 4. Water drain valves. 5. Gate valves 6. Check valves, Non-slam and diaphragm actuated type and having and resilient Disc, synthetic rubber disc. Similar or equal to BERMAD.
