ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Department of Computer Science and Engineering aims at producing technically competent Professionals, who can excel in todays age of technology, recognizing its role in Engineering, Education, Generation and Dissemination of state-of-theart facilities and relevant Technologies. The Department offers 3 Full time and Part time M.E Programmes and B.E Part time Programme Well experienced and dedicated members of Faculty pursuing their research, in recent trends of Computer Science and Engineering is the strength of the Department. The research arena comprises of Mobile Computing, Ad-Hoc Networks, Soft Computing, Information Security, Network Security, Data Mining, Data Warehousing, Grid Computing, Service Oriented Architecture, Cloud Computing, etc., To strengthen the technical ability of our students, the Department as a whole encourages the students towards conducting and participating Guest Lectures, Seminars, Conferences, Technical Symposiums, Workshops, and Industrial Visits.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP Hands on training on NS-2 are to enrich the participants on the working of NS-2, (Open Source Network Simulator). It is a discrete event simulator, targeted at network research which can be used to generate complex network topologies in the wired and wireless scenario. NS-2 can be used to simulate real environment and analysis. This two day workshop is intended to provide practical exposure to faculty members, research scholars and PG Students.

TOPICS TO BE COVERED Overview of NS2 Installation , Working with simple examples Overview of TCL scripts Creation of Wired and Wireless networks scenario Generating Traffic connection Creation of a new protocol TCP variants Wireless Networks Simulation and interpretation of trace file AWK Scripts & Xgraph

SCOPE OF THE WORKSHOP The Workshop aims at deliberation, sharing knowledge to the target audience about the significance of NS-2 and present current research opportunities in it. The discussion shall foster inter-disciplinary collaborative research in networking using NS-2.

TARGET AUDIENCE The Faculty members, Final year UG / PG students from Educational Institutions. The research scholars may also participate. No TA and DA will be provided for the participants. Lunch will be arranged. .

The registration fee should be paid only through DD in Favor of Computer Science & Engg (CSE) Association, Anna University, Regional Office - Coimbatore, Payable at Coimbatore.
