The Catholic Service Appeal- Bringing Christ to Others: All households in our parish family are invited to support the ministries of our Archdiocese. These are pastoral, educational, and charitable ministries that reach thousands of individuals and families as well as every parish and school in our Archdiocese. The target at All Saints is $5,350, and we are pleased to report that $805 has already been donated. If you have not yet responded with a gift, then please do so today. Envelopes are available in the pews this weekend, or you may make a gift online at www.archlou.org/CSA. Religious Education for Children/Youth resumes next Sunday, October 21st, after our October 14th Fall Break. RCIA: Contact Marilena Wertz at 477-8534 (mlwertz@wertz.us) if you are interested in joining the Catholic Church, and pray for the inquirers and the RCIA team members through out their faith journey. Family Faith Formation: Along with the October Catholic Update, Kateri Tekakwitha and Marianne Cope, Two New American Saints, and the October issue of At Home with our Faith, there are weekly spiritual reading materials for all ages to take home with you, including a Childrens Worship Bulletin. These are on the table near the loft stairs. The Annual Chili Supper and Game Night for adults only will be held Saturday October 27th in the Parish Hall, starting at 6pm. Tickets are $10.00 each and provides the food and drinks. Any money left over will be donated to the Church "Poor Box." Bring your favorite games and join us for a night of fellowship, food, and fun! A sign-up sheet is in back of church the deadline is October 21st. Contact Mary Anne or LaVielle Cecil, 477-6035, with any questions. Food Pantry: You may continue to drop off donations of non-perishable food in the baskets outside the Parish Offices to help feed the hungry in Spencer County. The Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency oversees this program. Stewards of Appalachia: We ask that you pray for the volunteers from All Saints and St. Francis Xavier who will be working this week to assist the needy in Eastern Kentucky, and we thank you for your donations to this effort. Knights of Columbus Chicken Dinner will be on October 21st, from 12-2:30PM. Its all you care to eat and includes chicken, sides, roll, drink and dessert. Prices are $7.50 for adults, $3.50 for children 4-12, and children 3 and under eat free. Proceeds go to the All Saints Council of the Knights of Columbus to fund their charitable work. Save the Date: Plan on attending the Lifesavers Jammin in Jamaica event on Sunday, October 28th, 12:30-2:00 PM. The History Center and Archives Tour: If you are interested in carpooling from All Saints to Louisville for the tours on November 10th, please add your name to the Sign-up Sheet in the back of church, near the Cry Room. K of C Robert Alan Jones, Sr. Scholarship: The All Saints Council #14234 is accepting applications for this scholarship, named in memory of former Grand Knight Bobby Jones. Application forms, which include the guidelines, are on the table near the loft stairs. The deadline to apply is November 30th. Found: A ladys denim jacket was left in church a couple of weeks agoclaim outside parish offices. Tentative New Years Eve Dance: The Parish will host an adults only event on New Years Eve if there is enough interest please sign the sheet in the back of church by Thursday, November 1st. Contact Mary Anne or LaVielle Cecil. AA meets at 7:30 PM every Tuesday in the Parish Hall. An open discussion format is used. October 11, 2012 is the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and also the twentieth anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. During the Year of Faith, Catholics are asked to study and reflect on the documents of Vatican II and the catechism so that they may deepen their knowledge of the faith. You may read Archbishop Joseph Kurtz reflections of the Synod of the new Evangelization on his Synod blog, accessed through Archlou.org. Our parishs Why Catholic? faith-sharing groups began last week you may still join a group if you would like to participate by calling or emailing Deacon Carl Fahringer. If you think you are too busy, pray first and be open to where God is leading you.
