Ohio County Local Coordinating Committee Citizens for a Drug Free Community June 11, 2012

Attendees: Deborah Thomason, Karen Ernst, Regina Crouch, Gary Eldridge, Janie Eldridge, Amber Johnson,
Shannon Franklin, Gayla Kaibel, Tina Keller, Debra Marsh-Niccum, Elissa Pogue, Laura Rolf, Sarah Slayback, Deb Ranz, Ethan Allan, Don Allen Jr., Gail Meyers and Shannon Buskirk Deborah Thomason called the meeting to order.

Minutes- May minutes were discussed a motion to approve made by Janie Eldridge and second by Elissa Pogue.
Minutes were passed.

Treasurers Report - Gary Eldridge reported that $4,000.00 was taken from Justice, $4,000.00 taken from
Education and $3000.00 from Treatment for 2012 approved grants . It was noted that there is still $1,000 left in Treatment which is still available should something come up. The balance in the Drug Free fund is $10,325.59. Treasurers report was passed by Debbie Nicuum and second by Amber Johnson.

Youth Report
No one was present from the schools. Amy Beckett mentioned that the Judge Advocate Council along with the Magistrate will be working through the schools on a program called My Empowerment for 5th and 6th grade girls. The program stresses healthy relationships.

State Report - Shannon Buskirk from the Criminal Justice Institutein Indianapolis made a visit to Ohio Count
y. Shannon explained what his job consisted of and what we as the LCC were required to report. We need to send our: 1) Agendas, 2) Minutes , 3) Quartley reports, and 4) comprehensive plans to the state. We do not have to go to scheduled meetings but we are welcome to attend. Shannon shared his email and direct phone number and welcomed any calls or questions. Shannon wanted the LCC board to know that he is available and willing to help in any way.

Old Business BAAAD 5K run/walk was very successful and well attended. It was a very uplifting event with 77 participants. It was a very educational for allwho attended, reported by Reginna Crouch. Grant reports are due at next meeting, be prepared to give your report. New Business Elisa Pogue from the Health Foundation of Cincinnati ASAP Center introduced Gail Myers who is the Public Relations specialist for ASAP. Gail presented to the group the Multi- County 2010 Status survey results. Because of the size of Ohio County some of the survey results are not available specific to Ohio County but can be seen in adjoining counties. The ASAP press release will be available on Wednesday.

Announcements Janie Eldridge announced that even though the Denver Siekman Environmental Park was closed the Job Skills Training would be taking place this summer. Janie has five students, 3 boys and 2 girls enrolled. She also noted that they had opened a thrift shop up on Main Street and invited anyone to stop by. Debbie Thomason announced that she would be conducting a Lego Robotics Camp for Beginners on June 18, 19 & 20th and for Advanced students on June 23, 24 and 25th. Currently this is still openings in both camps. Adjournment Motion to Adjourn was made by Debbie Marsh-Niccum and second by Amber Johnson.
