2. PHYSICAL FACILITIES These are not just mere adjucts to the educational system but are teaching aids in their own right. Considerations in planning for the improvement of Physical Facilities. a. Anticipate the structural needs of the additional schools required and provide them in the plan. b. The plan must make a real effort to respond to the physical needs of existing schools in a systematic time-bound manner. c. Maximizing the utilization of existing facilities 3. CURRICULUM The essence of quality in primary education must be derived from first-hand experiences and rooted in the activities of his home, school and the community At the secondary stage, a sound general education inculcating; the objective, scientific approach and critical thinking; desire for further knowledge; effective study habits; ability to read, summarize, analyze and synthesize. 4. EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT and ADMINISTRATION To have effective management, the following must be adopted. a. Those who lead the admin staff should know the service inside and be recruited from the ranks of the teachers. b. Education service should employ supervisory staff capable of giving help when needed. c. Linkages should be tried which brings adult community into the life of the school. 5. ADEQUATE PROVITION for RESEARCH and DEVELOPMENT D. FAQ in Planning 1. Why Plan? Planning must be realistic, systematic and sustained to; a. Set priorities for the best use of schools limited resources b. Respond to changes taking place in the community c. Focus on improving quality of teaching d. Arrive at sound decisions e. Establish consistency of purpose and direction 2. How Do I begin to plan? Stage 1. Environmental Scanning and Data Collection Stage 2. Setting of Objectives 3. What does the planning process involve? a. Identifying the gaps b. Generating and Selecting Alternative Strategies c. Translating Strategies into Operational Plans d. Writing the Plan e. Implementing the Plan f. Evaluating and Modifying the Plan 4. How do I sustain the process? Going through the planning process annually is advisable.
