Practical/Research Assignment

_____________________________________________________________________ Subject : Java Programming Subject Code: MCA 205 Semester: MCA III Batch: 2010 2013 Instructor: Ms. Rakhee Chhibber Maximum Marks : 10 Last Date of Submission : 30th sep. 2012 Purpose: The hands-on exercise outlined below is designed to emphasis on the students programming logics. It will also help students to develop or think about a particular problem. This assignment is a critical part of the learning process.. Learning Objectives: This assignment is aimed at providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical and applied aspects of Java Programming language. This will help students in the following: To learn the Java programming language: its syntax, idioms, patterns, and styles. To learn the essentials of the Java class library, and learn how to learn about other parts of the library when you need them. To Learn the essentials of the commercial java applications using JDBC-ODBC connectivity This assignment also aims to make student well acquainted with Java Programming language and its usage in the real world.

Instructions: 1.Assignment should be spiral bound on A-4 size sheet in typed form with times new roman style and font for heading should be 16, for subheading 14, and for normal text 12 with 1.5 line spacing. Unformatted or poorly formatted documents will be penalized. 2. Students have to submit the soft copy of the assignment on portal along with plagiarism report for the same. If the plagiarism report shows that more than 40% content is copied from internet, the assignment is not to be accepted. 3. They have to submit their assignments in hard copy along with plagiarism report at reception along with assignment submission form.

Assignment 1: Design an E-Business Application that offers an interface(as shown below) to search and view toy details from Toy table in the database. If the user decides to buy a toy then its details get added to the Order table and internally the toy record is updated(minus qty ordered ) in the table. When user clicks at submit button, then a message box informs the user about number of toys ordered and total bill amount. Upon clicking exit button, the application is closed.

Specifications: In search criteria, if name is selected then the label with text enter lower limit changes to Enter Name and the label with text Enter upper limit and its test field

become disabled otherwise (in case of price and age is selected as sort criteria) then lower and upper limit test fields apply to the selected criterion. After obtaining the search criterion, search should be performed in the toys table and the toy list box should get filled accordingly. The order Qty text field is enabled only when the click me check box is ticked The toy details get added to TOYS ORDERED table only after Confirm Order button is pressed for the toy.

Assignment 2: Design an E-Governance application to obtain domicile certificate. The details should be filled online as per the Performa Shown below :

Assignment 3: Design an E-Learning application that asks online quiz in the show format, where questions

and their possible answers are shown. If the user selects/clicks the correct answer, his/her score should be updated otherwise, a clue or a correct answer should be displayed to help the user.
