The AAI manages and operates 126

airports including 12international airports, 89domestic airportsand 26civil enclaves.The corporate headquarters( CHQ ) areatRajiv Gandhi Bhawan, Safdarjung Airport,New Delhi. V .P A g r a wa l i s t h e c u r r e n t chairman of the AAI.The Airports Authority of India (AAI) was formed on 1st April 1995 by merging theInternational Airports Authority of India and the National Airports Authority with a viewto accelerate the integrated development, expansion and modernization of the operational,terminal and cargo facilities at the airports in the country conforming to internationalstandards. AAI provides air navigation services over 2.8 million square nautical miles of airspace.The new domestic terminalbuilding at Jaipur Airport was inaugurated on 1 July 2009. Then e w t e r mi n a l h a s a n a r e a o f 2 2 ,9 5 0 s q m, i s ma d e o f g l a s s a n d s t e e l s t r u c t u r e h a v i n g modern passenger friendly facilities such ascentral heating system,central air conditioning, inlinex-raybaggage inspection system integrated with the departureconveyor system, inclined arrival baggage claim carousals,escalators,public address system,Flight information display system(FIDS), CCTV for surveillance,Airport checkinc o u n t e r s wi t h C o mmo n Us e Te r mi n a l Eq u i p me n t ( C U T E) , c a r p a r k i n g , e t c . Th e I n t e r n a t i o n a l Te r m i n a l B u i l d i n g h a s p e a k h o u r p a s s e n g e r h a n d l i n g c a p a c i t y o f 5 0 0 passengers and annual handling capacity of 4 lakhs.7
