IMPORTANT TERMINOLOGY
IMPORTANT TERMINOLOGY :
Alternative Frequency (AF) : An RDS program is transmitted simultaneously on several frequencies. The radio automatically searches for the transmission frequency with the best reception. A short interruption of playback may occur during the process. This allows user to retune automatically to different frequency providing the same station when the first signal is too weak. Amplitude modulation (AM) : Audio signal amplitude is modulated with the carrier signal. Frequency band is from 530KHz to 1650KHz (Region specific). Automatic station search : In automatic station search operation, the tuner searches in the operating frequency band until a station is found. Automatic storing (AS) : In auto store operation, system searches the complete operating frequency band for stations and stores the stations in the predefined memory locations based on the order of the signal strength. AUX In connectivity : Playback of any auxiliary device such as MP3 player. Balance : Volume distribution between the left and the right. Bass : Low-frequency audio sounds. Bluetooth : Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard used for exchanging the data over short distances operated at 2.4GHz frequency range. CD-DA : Compact Disc-Digit CD-Text : Information stored on an audio CD which can include the following data - Track title - Artist name - CD name

IMPORTANT TERMINOLOGY
Compact Disc (CD) : Compact disc is a optical disc storage media to store digital data. Contrast : Contrast is the ratio of the luminance of the brightest color to the darkest color.(Applicable for display systems). Digital Video Disc (DVD) ; Digital Video Disc which can be used for storing the video and data files. Ext. in volume : External in volume is the volume of externally connected device such as Bluetooth device. Fader : Volume distribution to the front and to the rear. Frequency modulation (FM) : Audio signal frequency is modulated with the carrier signal. Frequency band is from 87.5MHz to 108MHz (Region specific).al Audio. Digital audio is an audio CD recording format. ID3 tag : ID3 tag includes the following data based on the text available on CD tracks. - Track title - Artist name - Album name This information can be stored in the MP3 file with a PC. International organization for standardization (ISO) : ISO is the worlds largest developer and publisher of International standards. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) : LCD is an electronic visual display used to convey visual information to the user. Manual station search : There is a distinction made between coarse tuning and fine tuning. MP3 : CD audio data compression allows reduction of the data to around 10 % of the original volume without audible losses in sound quality (at a bit rate of 128 kbit/s). If lower bit

rates are used to convert the CD audio data into MP3, then the files become even smaller, but sound quality is reduced. ON volume : ON volume setting is to set the switch ON volume for the Infotainment system. PS (Program Service): Displays the program name. Some stations provide additional information if the station is RT(Radio text) based FM station. PTY (Program Type): Many RDS stations transmit a PTY code indicating the type of program broadcast (e. g. news). The PTY code allows station selection by program type. RDS (Radio Data System) : RDS is a service provided by the radio broadcasters which makes it much easier to find an FM station and helps to ensure reception is free of interference. RDS stations are identified by the name of the station in the display instead of the frequency when RDS is active. RDS stations transmit information which is automatically evaluated by the RDS radio if RDS is activated. Random mode (RND) CD/USB tracks are played in random order. RED Book : Red book is the standard for audio CD which contains the specification for all CDs and CD-ROM formats. 6.1 GENERAL INFORMATION The Infotainment system comes with a CD/MP3 player; You should play standard CDs with a diameter of 12 cm with this unit. You can also use the Infotainment system to play CDs containing MP3 music data and Mixed Mode CDs. Audio CDs are being provided more and more frequently with what is known as copy protection in order to protect them from illegal duplication. However, this protection does not correspond to the audio CD specification (Red Book) according to which all units for the playback of audio CDs have been and continue to be developed. For this reason, you may experience problems when playing CDs with copy protection. We accept no liability for damage to your CD player caused by playing unsuitable CDs. Note: 1. Shaped CDs are not suitable for playing. 2. Do not place DVDs in the CD player. 3. Supported file formats are -CD-DA, MP3. 6.2 PREPARING MP3 CD There may be problems with CD playback caused by the combination of CD burner, burner software, blank CD and ambient temperature. If you experience problems with CDs you have burned yourself, you should switch to using blank CDs from another. The best results will be achieved with blank CDs with a playing time of 74 minutes. The format of the CD must be ISO 9660 Level 1, Level 2 or JOLIET. All other formats cannot be played back reliably. Use maximum bit rate of 256 kbit/ s while creating MP3 files from the audio files. weight or other limits, road or traffic conditions, special events, traffic congestion, or travel time. Only operate, adjust, or view the system when it is safe to do so. The navigation provided, contains a digitized Street map. Motorways, main and regional roads, as well as district roads are detailed in this street map. One-way streets, pedestrian zones, turn bans and other traffic regulations are taken into account as far as possible. There may be discrepancies between the data on the navigation database CD and the actual local situation, due to temporary or permanent changes to road systems and their traffic regulations. If the vehicle battery has been disconnected, or if the vehicle has been transported to a new location on another vehicle (e.g. by trailer or train), the navigation system may require several minutes to identify the new position. Do not keep the navigation system running with the engine stopped. Doing so may discharge the vehicle battery. When you use the navigation system, always keep the engine running. Some states/provinces may have laws limiting the use of video screens while driving. Use this system only where it is legal to do so. When the driver wants to operate the navigation system, park the vehicle in a safe location and set the parking

brake. Operating the system while driving, can distract the driver and may result in a serious accident. Do not rely on route guidance alone. Always be sure that all driving maneuvers are legal and safe in order to avoid accidents. Traffic Rules/Road Safety The system does not relieve you of your responsibility to drive with due care and attention. This always remains the personal responsibility of the driver. The system provides no assistance with respect to stop signs, traffic lights, areas under construction or other important safety information. Only view the system display when driving conditions permit. Safety information Read and follow all stated safety precautions. Failure to do so may increase your risk of collision and personal injury. TATA MOTORS shall not be liable for any damages of any type arising from failure to follow these guidelines. The requirements of the Road Traffic Regulations retain their validity. The actual road signs and traffic regulations must therefore always be observed. In some areas, one-way streets and other roads and entrances (e.g. pedestrian zones) that you are not allowed to turn into are not marked on the map. If detailed viewing of route instructions is necessary, pull off the road when it is safe to do so and park your vehicle. Do not use the navigation system to locate emergency services. To use the system as effectively and safely as possible, always use the latest version navigation disc, your dealer will be able to provide this. A road safety caution is displayed each time the ignition is switched ON and the navigation system is selected. To use the system, read the caution and select OK. Reception of GPS signals are directional and reception may occasionally be interrupted. Some examples of situations likely to cause problems are shown below: Inside tunnels Inside buildings Roads under raised highways Densely tree-lined roads Forest roads between mountains Between tall buildings Roads under cliffs

errors in vehicle position under certain driving conditions. Some examples are shown below : When the vehicle is transported by ferry or train. Driving on steep roads After vehicle battery removal or supply fuse failure. When using snow chains After the tyres have been replaced After the vehicle has been rotated on a turntable Where there are two roads parallel to each other Elevated roads in proximity to other roads Driving up or down circular ramps in car parks Database may not contain complete information due to passage of time, changing circumstances. Database may not include few stops/signs/traffic lights/area under construction. Danger of accident: Through operation of the navigation unit when driving, e.g. entering destination; the destination must only be entered when the vehicle is stationary. Use of the navigation unit is only permitted if traffic conditions are suitable and you are sure that no risk obstruction or inconvenience will be incurred to you, your passengers, or other road users.
72

Through non-observance of Road Traffic Regulations; the requirements of the Road Traffic Regulations retain their validity, it is possible that inaccurate or incorrect instructions are given due to altered traffic routes, e g. due to road works or deviating data. The actual road signs and traffic regulations must therefore always be observed. Through misuse of the unit, the navigation system serves solely as aid to navigation. In particular, the navigation system cannot be used as an aid to orientation when visibility is poor. The volume of the car radio/navigation system must be adjusted so that external noise is still audible. Switch OFF the unit immediately if a fault occurs (emission of smoke or odours)

NAVIGATION
SAFETY TIPS WARNING Do not use this system if you notice any malfunctions such as a frozen screen or the lack of sound. Continued use of the system may result in accidents, fire, or electrical shock. 10.1 GENERAL INFORMATION : The navigation system will lead you to your desired destination reliably and safely without tedious map reading.Using dynamic guidance, the current traffic situation will be taken into account when calculating the route, if required. For this purpose, the Infotainment system receives the traffic reports of the current reception area via RDS TMC. However, the navigation system is not able to take into account the relevant traffic situation, temporary changes to traffic regulations and any hazards or obstructions (e.g. road works) which may occur. For further information, the navigation system of the Infotainment system enables you to be guided to your destination even without knowing the local area. Navigation system function The position and movements of the vehicle are detected by the navigation system by means of sensors. The speedometer denotes how far has been traveled, while turns through curves are detected by means of a gyro sensor. The GPS (Global Positioning System) satellites determine the position. The position can be calculated within a range of approx. 10 m by comparing the sensor signals with the digital map on the navigation CD. Important notes on the function of the navigation system In principle, the system is functional even with poor GPS reception, although the accuracy of the positioning may be impaired by poor or interrupted GPS.reception, or errors may occur in the determination of the position, resulting in incorrect position reporting. Poor GPS reception is indicated by the crossed out GPS symbol in the main display. After the destination address or a specific destination (next petrol station, hotel, etc.) has been entered, the route from the current location to the selected destination is calculated. Guidance to the destination takes place by means of voice output and a directional arrow with the aid of a multi-colored map display or a combination of both voice output and the

The use of the navigation system does not release the driver from his responsibility for proper and prudent behavior on the road. The traffic Regulations must always be observed. If the guidance information contradicts the traffic regulations, the traffic regulations always take precedence.

10.8.4 Displaying the map The Infotainment system provides the option of displaying a map at any time, even if navigation is inactive. A navigation CD must be loaded to view the map. If navigation is inactive, Select the Map menu item in the Navigation main menu. The position map showing the current vehicle position is displayed. 10.8.5 Dynamic guidance With dynamic guidance, the whole of the current traffic situation that is received by the Infotainment system via RDS TMC is incorporated into the calculation of the route. If there is a traffic hold-up (e.g. traffic jam, road closure) on the planned route, you will be informed of this by the Infotainment system and you can decide whether the system should avoid the problem by changing the route in order to avoid the segment concerned or whether it would be more sensible just to drive through the problematic road section. Thus during guidance, the system constantly uses the traffic information to check whether a new calculation would be sensible, given the current traffic situation. Dynamic guidance can be activated/deactivated in the Navi Settings menu, The basis for the possible delay due to a traffic hold-up and calculated by the Infotainment system is data that the system receives via the currently selected RDS TMC station. From experience, the actual delay may deviate from the calculation. Depending on the traffic situation, there are two different types of detour 1. Detour with dynamic guidance 2. Planning a detour manually

If navigation is active, Select the Menu menu item in the guidance screen. Then select the View menu item. The position map showing the current vehicle position and a cursor are displayed.

NAVIGATION
Detour with dynamic guidance As soon as the Infotainment system has received information about one or more traffic hold-ups via RDS TMC that would mean a relatively long delay for navigation to your destination, the system offers you well in advance of the hold-up the option of taking a detour around the traffic holdups. If a relatively long delay on your route is expected due to traffic hold-ups, a message informing you of the calculated delay is given. Select Detour menu item from the navigation menu. Select Recalculate menu item from the Detour menu, if you want to make an extensive detour around the traffic hold-ups. Select .Cancel. if you do not want to make a detour. Even after canceling, it is possible to have the route recalculated via the Detour menu item. Planning a detour manually The Infotainment system offers the option of bypassing a specific part of the calculated route (starting at the current vehicle position), in addition to the dynamic route guidance functions. With a local detour, all traffic hold-ups can be bypassed, even if they are not viewed as critical by the evaluation of the Infotainment system.
