WALKIE TALKIE

1.0

Abstract A walkie-talkie (more formally known as a handheld transceiver) is a hand-held portable,

two-way radio transceiver. Major characteristics include a half-duplex channel (only one radio transmits at a time, though any number can listen) and a push-to-talk switch that starts transmission. Walkie talkie a very useful gadget. You may also need a walkie talkie if you move around a lot in your job. The benefit over mobile phones is that they are license free and do not have any associated call charges. Hand-held transceivers became valuable communication tools for police, emergency services, and industrial and commercial users, and are also popular with some amateur radio operators.

How walkie talkie operates

2.1

Transmission

Sound waves hitting the microphone are converted to an electrical waveform. The waveform is sent to the pre-amplifier, where its amplitude is increased to a useable size. The power amplifier then amplifies the waveform further. The amplified waveform is then modulated by the oscillator, to have a transmission frequency of 27.145 MHz. The signal is transmitted through the antenna.

2.2

Reception

The antenna picks up the radio waves. This produces a very weak electrical signal, by electromagnetic induction. This very weak signal is detected and demodulated into a very weak audio frequency. This is amplified by the pre-amplifier to a useable size.

The power amplifier is used to produce a large enough waveform to drive the speaker. The speaker converts the electrical signal to sound energy that you can hear.

Advantages 3.1 Totally free Usage These convenient devices do not require a mobile tower or network for communication. They have their own frequency for transmission and they solely depend on the selection. They are the ideal choice for those who wish to keep away from horrible mobile locations and high-priced roaming fees.

3.2

Precise Communication Using Walkie Talkie Headsets will alleviate the aggravation that is shared amongst these that hate waiting on a person to reply their telephone. It could get someone as much as two minutes to answer their telephone. It is due in part to

all of the prolonged ring tones which are available today. Immediate and precise communication can take place once the headsets are used.

3.3

Extra Reliable Utilizing headsets are far more reliable. Cellphones are prone to damage when they are dropped. Fantastic producers create these brilliant two way gadgets from probably the most tough supplies. This minimizes that risk of breakage taking place.

Disadvantages 4.1 Limited path for communicate Only one person can talk at a time, and everyone else with a walkie talkie can hear what you are saying to your friend if they are within 2 - 3 city blocks of your house. 4.2 Only for close distance Walkie talkie are not a subsitute for cell phones. They are meant for broadcast mode (talking in a group mode) . This 2-way radio communication

can transmit short voice as the output power is limited because its being run to high voltage batteries and voice message should be repeat to a reliable communication
4.2 Limited channel They can go out of range and have a small number of channels that they can communicate to each other on. When out of range, the signal will be lost and cannot be transmitted to receiver.

Suggestions Walkie talkie not due for long range communication because of low coverage. To solve this problem you need to modified some part of walkie talkie. Firstly, the problem is about size of antenna and the power transmiter. The common walkie talkie only have a small size of antenna. Generally, to get more gain you need a bigger antenna. Many times we've been able to improve the performance of a communications system merely by improving the antennas. Anything you do to increase your signal will give you more range. You can do that by running higher power. Or you can do it by improving your antenna. It is much cheaper to get more range by improving your antenna than by running more transmitter power. Besides, better antennas let you hear further as well as talk further.

Conclusion

The walkie talkie is design for human to communicate for each other (close range). The common walkie talkies speaker built in which you can talk and listen, with an antenna to receive the voice. Walkie talkie may be used to communicate between you and another person whether both of you are in ground or not.The walkie talkie radio is formally known as 2-way hand-held transceiver radio which you could transmit and receive voice messages which is license free with no associated call fees or charges unlike to your mobile phone that charges fees on your account. If your job is associated with security, it is the best gadget for you and for your job.
