PAQUISTO-CHINA

Pakistan and China signed on Monday a military cooperation agreement. The agreement was signed during Chinese Deputy Chief of General Staff General Ma Xiaotians visit to Rawalpindi for the ninth round of Pakistan-China defence and security talks. MYANMAR III
Myanmar President Thein Sein enumerated the democratic reforms his government has undertaken when he spoke at the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday. Thein Sein also acknowledged and congratulated Nobel Laureate and democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi on honors she has recently received in the United States, including the Congressional Gold Medal. BANGLADESH-CHINA
There will be a "high wave" of Chinese investment in Bangladesh in the next three to five years, said Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jun yesterday. Rising labour costs and economic restructuring in China were forcing businesses to relocate to other countries, including Bangladesh, he said. FILIPINAS
Senator Teofisto Guingona III on Thursday filed a petition in the Supreme Court asking the tribunal to declare null and void libel penalty provisions in the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 that he said violated basic constitutional rights and threw the nation back to the dark ages. CAMBOJA

CHINA
China is the 10th country, and the last of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, to have an aircraft carrier in active service. The carrier, formerly the Soviet ship Varyag, underwent years of refitting to install engines, electronic equipment and weapons, as well as conducting a number of sea trials. After entering service, the Liaoning will continue performing technological research, experiments and military training, according to the Xinhua News Agency. MYANMAR II
Myanmar parliament embraced democratic principles more than she expected, said Democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi during a meeting with Myanmar staffs at UN head office in New York on Sept. 21. She said the parliament has treated MPs from her party -- opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) -- very fairly, although NLD was outnumbered by the ruling party and its allies.

CHINA-INDONSIA
China expects that Indonesia will maintain its constructive role in creating an appropriate situation for China and ASEAN to move forward in easing tension and reaching consensus in the South China Sea dispute. CHINA-JAPO I
China's top political adviser highlighted the role of public diplomacy, rather than relying solely on official channels, during a meeting on Thursday with leaders of Japanese groups committed to developing China-Japan ties. North Koreas rubber-stamp parliament on Tuesday approved legislation to extend its compulsory education by one year to 12 years on Tuesday, the Korean Central News Agency reported. CHINA-JAPO II
Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda said Wednesday afternoon he will not make any compromises with China in the recent row over the Senkaku Islands, such as retracting the nationalization of three of the islets. Speaking at a press conference at a New York hotel, Noda also called on the Chinese government to resolve the problem peacefully. JAPO-CHINA
Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba held talks with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi at a hastily arranged meeting Tuesday evening in New York, with both agreeing to continue dialogue aimed at stabilizing tense relations between the two countries. It was the first ministerial meeting between Japan and China since Sept. 11, when the government nationalized some of the Senkaku Islands in Ishigaki, Okinawa Prefecture.
