Key Verse James 4 verse 10: Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up Key Thought Humility is the door that leads us to all God intends for us. Its a state of mind that God cherishes and God demands. To reach this mindset an effort is demanded from us and it has to be our choice Introduction 1 Brokenness This literally mean humbleness, lowliness of mind, affliction and gentleness. Through brokenness God has brought beauty from ashes. It depicts our desperation for renewal. It also depicts a change from one state to another. Our Problem - Pride (or Haughtiness, Conceit, Self-love, Arrogance) makes us not to humble ourselves 1 John 2:16; Hosea 7:10; Esther 5:11; Psalms 10:2; 119:21; Proverbs 6:17; 13:10; 21:4; 28:25 Spiritual Pride Job 33:9; Zephaniah 3:11; Luke 18:11; John 9:41; 1 Corinthians 4:18 21 & Revelation 3: 17

Lowliness - Advantages With the humble is wisdom Proverbs 11 vs. 2 2. Humility goes before Honour - Proverbs 15:33; 18:12 3. The humble will inherit the land Ps 37:11 4. Blessed are the meek Matthew 5:5 5. The humble will receive honour Proverbs 29:23 6. Insistence on humility Colossians 2:18, 23
