In January 2011, the number of foreign visitors to Bali reached 209,093, an increase of 16.9% compared to the same period last year. From the statistics, the big five foreign visitors to Bali were from Australia (28.11%), China, Japan, Russia and South korea. The good news is that the competiveness rating for Indonesian tourism from 139 countries rose to number 74 from 81 previously, as announced during the Global Tourism Forum in Andorra city. The tsunami catastrophe that hit Japan in march 2011 has reduced the number of tourists from Japan by around 10%. However, we expect that will recover over the next six months.
