As we move into 2012, I wonder if the last year may have left you a little stunned? The last 2 years have certainly been interesting for most people. Think back to where you were 2 years ago - I wouldnt be surprised to hear if there have been quite a few twists and turns in your life. Astrology helps us keep track of cycles on a collective and individual level and we are all going to experience some groundbreaking changes in different areas of our lives over the next few years. When I write your forecasts, Im looking at an energy pattern that can be felt collectively and honing in on a particular area for each sun sign. I am conscious that some people who read this will have little or no experience or understanding of astrology and some of you may be more advanced. My aim is to make the yearly forecast an enjoyable read for everyone who comes across it. Ive thrown in a few astrology phrases and words here and there that you may not be familiar with, but if you are interested in understanding a little more about astrology I suggest you visit www.astroartisan.com for a detailed, free information portal about astrology cycles. Perhaps we have family members or friends who are coming to terms with losing a job, or even their home. Perhaps we have experienced this ourselves. If we are fortunate enough to have missed the current financial tension in our own arena, its impossible to escape the daily bombardment of financial forecasting. This affects us all in some way and whilst we may have started to see the green shoots of recovery in some areas of the world, there will be peaks and troughs over the coming years. This is not a comfortable process. It does mean that we will find creative ways to make things work for us. It also gives us the benefit of taking a closer look at our lives and the lives of people around us, and make readjustments to our current perspectives.

2012 brings some fundamental changes. Something new is on the horizon. We caught glimpses of what those changes might mean last year, but this year takes us right to the heart of the matter. 2012 marks the peak of a transition; a cross over into a new, exciting, and at times challenging era. Many of us have already been directly affected by the global recession, and it impacts on us all in different ways. Of course some people are doing well, maybe even better than before - our own individual cycles play a part in how we are currently faring. Regardless of our own circumstances, we may know

Im a great believer in compassion specifically grounded compassion, which is really an acknowledgment of other people around us. Its sad this has been so severely lacking that, when we do experience it, we dont actually recognise it any more. When people do things for us, most people subconsciously reach for a motive. If we cant see or fathom a motive, we are immediately suspicious and perhaps even mildly condemning. Our immediate response is distrust because this is not something we experience very often. We have lived in a WIIFM (Whats in it for me) society for way too long and I believe this has eroded our sense of community. I propose a WIIFU (Whats in it for us) society, starting in 2012 - a more integrative and balanced point of view that ensures we meet not only our own needs, but the needs of the

2012 Bringing Compassion back into Fashion!

people with whom we come into contact day to day. 2012 potentially brings compassion and kindness back into vogue on a humanitarian and global level. Actually, I think this trend has started already check out yearofkindness (you can click on the link) a blog I found particularly inspirational. Written by an Aries with a mission, she recently spoke about her thoughts and experiences whilst promoting kindness. In her post titled Kindness Army (very Aries indeed!) she said;
I cant quite believe that I am now almost six months into my Year of Kindness. Seems like only yesterday I was stumbling through my very first day, offering smiles to strangers and receiving very few in return. I didnt like all the negativity, selfishness and cruelty I saw all around me. After a long time of feeling frustrated and helpless, I decided I would do something about it. I wanted to prove (to myself as much as anyone else) that despite all the inevitable bad stuff in life, even the smallest acts of good can be powerful in the most unexpected ways and every single person has the power to make the world a kinder place.

A Pivotal Point

2012 has stood out for most astrologers as being a pivotal year due to Pluto and Uranus coming together. These 2 major planets form a number of exact tense aspects over the next few years and 2012 begins this process. How to use this guide

You can, of course, read your guide from beginning to the end if you wish. I have written your yearly report in sections and there are different ways you can utilize this report throughout the year. Part 1 looks at the major trends for your sun sign incorporating the dominant themes from the beginning of 2012 throughout the year. You will also find links to various articles (they look like this Link) describing some of the planets I mention in your report - read them as you go through, or come back to them later. They will give you a better idea about what I have based your report on, and give you a deeper insight into the planets. The summary section (Part 2) breaks down your themes for the year into 3 main areas - love and relationships, money and finance and career and status - You can get a better idea about what to expect in each of these particular areas of your life by reading this section. Part 3 covers the effects of the main planetary movements as they move from one sign to another (technically termed ingresses) and eclipses on your sign in 2012. I have focussed on Neptune, Saturn and Jupiter who all move into different signs this year. The eclipse section highlights the potential affects of the eclipse for your sun sign. (You can also refer to the calendars in part 4 to get a clearer idea about the timing of these events throughout the year.)

Part 4 contains the moon calendar highlighting 4 phases of the moon each month with corresponding dates, signs and degrees. Each phase is significant depending on what sign it is in and I take this into account when I write your monthly astrology report and overview on AstroArtisan. You will also find the eclipses highlighted on the moon calendar. The direct, station and retrograde calendar shows times when Mercury, Venus and Mars are moving backwards and forwards and the point they stop (station) in between. (There is an explanation of the different phases of these movements in this section) Again, these will all have bearing on us in some way and I have focussed on these particular planets (the personal planets) - as their motion is likely to have a big impact. The final page in your report is your 2012 Life and Living Inspiration Card. This was written for your sign and encompasses the energy and themes for you in 2012. The Transition

If you have been experiencing confusion and lack of clarity regarding your home or your career, Im happy to tell you 2012 brings an awaited turn around. If the ride has been weird, wild and unpredictable, this phase moves on and at the beginning of the year, you may come to see an ending to any confusion you have experienced. Its likely you set the wheels in motion to make changes in your life a while ago, and you may have wondered why you were unable to see a way forward for such a long time. If you have found yourself experiencing challenges regarding your home and trying to define what will make you feel settled and comfortable, whilst making plans to work towards your goals this will have been a recurring theme for a while. At the same time, you may have been wondering how to achieve some sort of security.

Scorpio in 2012

Its possible that you found it particularly challenging to find resources over the last year, and if they were forthcoming, perhaps you were not too sure what to do with them. Its been strange in a lot of ways for you, but from 2012 (and actually into 2013) it is all going to make some sense and you will get some order, structure and perhaps direction back into your life. You will also have the opportunity to be a lot more creative and find that you are able to express yourself with ease. Neptune will be in a lovely place for you over the next 14 years and during this time you will discover that your creativity and sense of enjoyment in life is heightened.

Scorpio, You have the ability to see beyond the superficial, in other words people may describe you as being quite deep. Your uncanny knack for tuning into people, combined with your observational skills makes you keen researchers and investigators. If there is anything to find, Scorpio will dig beneath the surface and find it and this is just the way you work, you couldnt be any other way. Loyal and sometimes secretive and extremely cautious in not giving too much away, you make great friends as long as no one crosses you!

About Scorpio

Scorpios tend to see things that no one else can see and pick up on the subtext and nuances in life. Some people say that Scorpionic energy is very dark Perhaps intense would be a better description. You do not do anything by halves and your innate understandings about human nature and what makes people tick are par excellence. The famous Scorpio sting is really just a survival mechanism and though, at times you may have difficulty putting past hurts behind you, you do have the ability to change peoples lives around you in quite profound ways, often without realising or meaning to. NeptuNe This planet in astrology is associated with higher visions, dreams, fantasy, illusion and all things mystical and unseen. Neptune settles into Pisces this year for 14 years and this is where Neptune operates best as this planet rules the sign of Pisces. Neptune is diffuse and difficult to grasp, but if you are naturally inclined towards non-linear perspectives, then Neptune in Pisces is likely to be an energy that will be a joy to work with. In some ways, this planet acted a little out of character when it was in the sign of Aquarius as the 2 have quite different agendas and ways of operating. With Neptune back in its honourable and rightful place from February 2012, we could see themes regarding compassion, idealism, romance, understanding, equality and tolerance becoming prevalent in our lives. Neptune will be in a great place for Scorpios over the next 14 years and will give you the opportunity to become really free in expressing yourself. If you work with children, are planning children, or children are important in your life in any way, this influence will really bring some joy. Romance and creativity will be heavily featured and will tend to run very smoothly. After any struggles you have been through over the years, this will really help to smooth over the cracks and you may find yourself actually starting to enjoy your life and find time for play and recreation. If it has all been a little serious over the last few years, this year you will get the opportunity to lighten up (in a deep way!) and whilst your creative urges may have come in fits and starts, youll enter into a period where you will find comfort and solace through self expression. A Tone Deeper - Conversations and Meetings of the Mind

Your conversations and thought processes have come under scrutiny over the last few years. You probably found yourself in situations where you had to stop and take stock regarding the way you talk and communicate with people perhaps becoming aware of how powerful communications can be. You find yourself involved in a little self examination, reviewing the way you communicate, gather and process information. If you have been thinking a lot about where your life is heading and trying to find answers to these questions, you will find that as soon as you answer one question, another one may pop up. This is actually called progress, and whilst you are going through this process, you will begin to see that things around you change. This is a slow and gradual energy and not one that you are likely to see making overnight changes to your life, but what you are likely to observe is that you are going a lot deeper and seeing life in a very different way. This could be quite a profound time, and you may be compelled to communicate your process through a creative medium. Pluto has been impacting on your communications. This pertains to what you say, the way you say it and- to a certain extent- the mental processes you go through to get your point across. There have been fundamental changes in this area of your life from 2008. 2012 begins a process of stark definition and you will begin to clearly observe how this impacts your life in an outstanding way.

pluto the DemoteD plaNet - Still makiNg a Big impact Pluto is the slowest moving planet and takes 248 years to complete a circle around the zodiac. You may have heard that Pluto recently got demoted and lost its planetary status, but this makes no difference to the overhauling and transformative effect this planet has when we look at astrology cycles. Pluto transforms and it transforms because it digs. Whatever area of your life Pluto affects is in for an overhaul period. Unlike Uranus, which tends to work in a sporadic, chaotic, lightening flash way, Pluto takes its time, is thorough and leaves no stone unturned. This planet uproots, unearths and through this process shifts our foundations from the core. This is the transforming effect of Pluto.

In your bid to get to the bottom of things, what you say to the people around you and how you say it are now under review. There is potential here for a complete restructuring and re-evaluation of your thought processes. You may not say very much Scorpio, or you may say a lot, but not actually communicate very much and prefer to observe people before you let them in. This may mean at times you are quite happy to let other people do the talking this is fine, however you come to the realisation that words hold a lot of power and you may be exploring this concept over the coming years. The Power Behind Words

There are challenges implied with this influence, as well as creative potential. Scorpio, this may not be an easy process as you are quite fixed in your outlook and you may find that this has a tendency to make you feel a little scattered. Its possible that whilst you are discovering an even deeper side to yourself, the structures in your life disintegrate and come back together during various stages of this process. uraNuS Uranus is one of what we call the outer planets. These planets pack a hefty punch wherever they are in our chart - they are the transformers, up heavers, movers and shakers on a grand scale. I like to call them the planets that can move a mountain as they have the potential of bringing big change and energy shifts when they impact our charts. Out of all the outer planets, Uranus is the most unpredictable, quirky, strange and electric. Whenever I think about Uranus, I think about the shape and mechanism of this planet and how it operates in our solar system. Uranus is the only planet in the solar system we know about that tilts on a weird axis. Uranus topsy-turvy orbit really describes how this planet works in astrology. So think about a weird and wonderful, upside down and unexpected energy affecting your life and well, anything is possible and anything can happen. Order and Chaos

Whilst you may spend time probing and quite comfortably travelling to the depths of your own mind; you may be suddenly jolted into reality when your routines and structures appear to change at the drop of a hat. Although there may be a destabilising factor to this at various times, you will have to think about how you order your everyday life. This may sound a little irrelevant, but its really important. This influences affects your day to day routines and your work and organisational skills. Too much routine means life is static and a little boring, too little and we are thrown off track. If you do find -for whatever reason- that everything you put in place seems to go a little haywire; work at finding a solution. Your relationships with colleagues could also be quite interesting and you may find that you are invisible one day and flavour of the month the next. This is the Uranus effect, and it really is about rapid change in this area of your life and finding balance between dealing with the minutiae whilst you are in the process of taking a long hard look at life. It may be a good idea to take into account that sometimes, for whatever reason this is not going to be possible and perhaps just take this in your stride. Try not to go off the deep end as you process these changes and be aware that what you say has the ability to affect the people around you.

The Ties That Bind

If it has been a strange couple of years and you were left wondering where you were going and what you were doing. To a certain extent this has been a prevailing theme for a lot of people, but at times you may have felt like you were entering the twilight zone not too sure where you were and what to make of what was going on around you. There was a certain amount of restriction operating without really understanding or knowing where this was coming from leaving you with a weird and frustrated feeling that you were not able to place. You probably got a sense that you were held in a locking situation, unable to move backwards or forwards, and though you may not have been too sure why you felt this way, this energy has been a part of your life for a while. Saturn is adding some caution and temperance to your actions.

SaturN Father time Saturn is the planet associated with restrictions, lessons and time. It also lends structure and discipline to the area of our chart it impacts. This planet is a bit like Father Time and can bring a feeling of delays and hold ups. Whichever area Saturn is impacting gives us the effect that everything has slowed down. The positive side of Saturn is that it stabilises, as well as teaches us patience through what can seem like a long and arduous climb. Although the impact of this planet feels frustrating, in the long run we may find that we take a more structured approach to the area it impacts. Saturn is also associated with the wisdom and patience of maturity.

If your health has suffered or you have felt below par over the last years 2012 will be a lot more cheery for you. Make sure you keep any scheduled medical appointments and keep on top of those little every day things that can add up to be quite important. Even though this may be particularly challenging this year, its important that you are functioning at optimum level. You may also find after years of feeling restriction and not being able to place that feeling of being held back, this all comes to an end by October 2012 and you will start to look at how your image and approach to life will work for you. You will also have the opportunity to take a more disciplined and structured approach to life. This is about self sufficiency and independence; perhaps this has been true all along, but this year you will really start to enjoy this new emerging structured side of your personality. What you may find in 2012 is that, although you will still have a vague feeling of restriction; you will find ways to express yourself that should unlock this feeling you have carried with you for a while. You may start to see that you have more options available to you and will use any pent up energy creatively.

From Mid 2011, your attention may have been drawn to one to one relationships and this will continue. There were perhaps extremes here on one level, you were optimistic, the only problem being that there was perhaps a tendency to be a little over optimistic. You may have met larger than life characters and felt a little overwhelmed by their presence. Another potential regarding this energy relates to legalities regarding money. Try not to go too overboard in your zeal to be right, the other person may very well hold the cards here for the time being. However this transpired for you (and there are a number of different ways this energy could impact you) this was about working with a partnership from outside of yourself that had a direct impact on how you saw yourself and how you defined you worth. This continues up until mid 2012 and is attributed to Jupiters placement.

I have focussed on the challenges you may have run into with Jupiter opposing your sign, but there are also positive potentials contained within this. Doors that were once closed may become open to you during the first half of 2012, whether this is in business, love or anything else pertaining to your one to one relationships, and the people you meet will have a grounding affect on you. Working with others can bring some rewards for you and this also has implications for your finances as well. From mid 2012 - its possible that you become the beneficiary of different sources of income from different people. You may be quite surprised at how lucky you are and this could come from a partner or an institution. If life has been a little austere over the last few years, 2012 brings a turn around and its possible that doors that were once closed to you are now open. Just be aware that to maximise on this opportunity it is important to keep your feet firmly rooted to the ground. This shouldnt be too much of a problem for you.

2012 could mark the start of a wonderful period for your love life and if it has been turbulent or even non - existent in past years, you will find that there are opportunities to meet someone this year. If you are in a relationship, things may change for the better and you will be revelling in the joys of being with someone who you love spending time with. If you are single and looking, 2012 brings a wonderful and dreamy start to any relationship you form. You may feel that you have met someone special. This is about long walks, beautiful conversation and visits to galleries. Bliss! And the second half of the year will prove just as promising in this respect. You may even find that you are in receipt of a few ardent admirers!

Money and Finances

If it has been a struggle over the last couple of years, and making ends meet had become quite a feat, you will find that this will be a lot easier in 2012, especially towards the latter part of the year. You may have found it difficult to tap into outside resources in recent years and by this I mean bank loans, help from partners, or even wages, but you learnt a lot about being self reliant. Even with this stress, your tenacity pulled you through and you were somehow able to look after yourself. This year, the tables turn and you are once again in a position where you can begin to receive some sort of support regarding your income if you need it. If there have been issues regarding employment and the money that you earn, you will find that 2012 potentially brings some positive news.

Career, Public Image and Status

This area of your life should become fairly stable in 2012 and if you feel that this has taken a back seat for a while, this may have been down to there being other pressing matters calling your attention. This influence continues in 2012 to a certain extent. That is not to say that it will not be a successful year for you. Your overall strategy and way of working is undergoing some fundamental changes which could impact on the work you do. You could find yourself working with technology and using different channels to fuel your creativity this will somehow reflect your changing ideas. You may start to find different and new ways of communicating. At the same time there may be challenges here regarding how you order your thoughts. If it initially seems a little disparate and sporadic, it really is just part of the process. Try not to get too hung up on creating the perfect picture. outer plaNetS chaNgiNg SigNS aND eclipSeS 2012 Neptune moves into Pisces 3 Feb 2012 Saturn moves into Scorpio 5 Oct 2012 Jupiter moves into Gemini 11 June 2012 Planets changing signs mark important points in their cycles and change the flow of energy, moving us in a different direction. The personal planets, Mercury, Venus and Mars, and the moon and sun move fairly quickly in comparison with the outer planets, so the quicker moving planets show the ebb and flow of our daily lives whilst they make different aspects in the chart. The outer planets changing signs are indicative of significant shifts and trends that can last many years. Last year, Neptune went into Pisces for the first time in 164 years and went back into Aquarius at the end of 2011. From February, Neptune will stay in Pisces for 14 years. Jupiter went into Taurus mid 2011 (where it will remain until June 2012) and will move into Gemini, and Uranus continued its stay in Aries and will be there for the next 7 years. Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008 and will stay there for 13 years. Saturn has been in Libra since October 2009 and will move into Scorpio in October 2012. All these changes are significant and affect us all individually.
neptune has been influencing the area of your life concerned with home, roots and family over the last 14 years and you may have found that this brought some fairly unconventional situations which probably left you a little confused as to where you could call home and what you viewed as security. If you have found yourself moving on a number of occasions and just trying to get a sense of where you belong, by Feb 2012 this influence is well and truly over. As Neptune moves into Pisces in February, it is likely to bring a beautiful and serene influence to your creative potential. You may find that you begin to tap into an area of yourself that has lay dormant for a long time. Romance and children will also feature quite strongly and you will enter into a phase where you experience a lot of joy in this area of your life. Saturn has been in the background, perhaps giving you a feeling of restraint from Oct 2009. You have been more cautious, more reticent and a little private. Though this may not have shown on the surface, you probably felt more insular and perhaps restricted in some ways. As Saturn moves into your sign in October, you could become a force to be reckoned with. Saturn will give you the discipline, structure and clarity of mind to begin to put plans into place and if you felt like you have been drifting on an abyss for a while, Saturn will start to bring your thoughts and ideas into concrete shape. All of this works well with your changing thought processes and communications over the next few years as you can begin to hone and define what you want to say and how you come across. These changes will also be extremely beneficial for your creativity and you can begin to build on solid foundations here. It will all start to take shape and after a few years of general confusion, you will be a lot clearer and more determined.

Jupiter has been opposing your sign from mid 2011 and will continue to do so until mid 2012. I wrote earlier on in your report about the challenges and potentials regarding partnerships. As Jupiter moves into Gemini, this will influence your finances and the money you receive from other people (partners, banks employers) it is likely that your finances will come from a variety of different sources and you may find that you are making different connections and commitments during this phase. This could be particularly lucky for you and after having experienced some hardships, and/or lack of general support; you will appreciate the variety of assistance that is offered to you.

Mars retrogrades every 2.5 years and can bring about a time we are being pulled back a little in our efforts. Mars is active and associated with warrior type energies. It is what drives and fuels us to take action, so when it is retrograde we may be a little reticent in going forward. Mars usually spends just over a month in each sign, however Mars will spend 8 months travelling through Virgo. Rather than going full speed ahead, this Mars retrograde may pull you back. Outwards energies become inverted. This Mars retrograde phase will affect your ideals, groups and associations, so this may not be the best time to make any changes in this area. Mars is action orientated and when it goes backwards the energy becomes a little inverted. This may give you the feeling that you have a lot to do, but may leave you unsure where to place the energy. You can use this time to think about what it is you want to work towards and how the people you associate with fit in with your goals. If you find that you are feeling more argumentative than usual, perhaps take a breather for a while and gain some clarity on where it is you want to go and who you want to take with you.

Mars retrograde

Venus will also retrograde this year in Gemini. Venus retrogrades mark a time when we rethink our relations. Venus is also associated with beauty, cosmetics, fine tailoring and anything aesthetic and pleasing to the eye. During the retrograde phase, its advisable not to go for any cosmetic treatments, get a new hair cut or buy anything that you think may suit you. There is the potential to look at it after the retrograde and not like what you see. If you do find yourself going over old ground, especially in relation to your love life, this is a good time to do so. We can use a Venus retrograde to reflect on what we find beautiful and how we conduct the relationships in our lives. This particular phase bring the concepts of money, earnings, values and commitments to the fore. If it seems like it is all going a little haywire in this area, try not to panic as this is a temporary energy. It may be a good idea to look at your values and how you determine your worth during this time and if you are feeling a little unsure about how people define you or what other people have to offer and the equation appears to be unbalanced this is temporary. This phase may also bring about a feeling of being unsure about your partnerships and if you are committed to someone, ideas and memories from the past could crop up during this time.

Mercury retrograde

I always make note of Mercury retrogrades. Its usual to find that communications go a little haywire during these times. eclipses

Eclipses mark turning points in our lives, they also show beginnings, endings and potential changes in direction. The eclipses in Gemini and Sagittarius bring everyones focus to communications, from local to global level. The eclipses affect your sense of value and your finances; you could experience a sudden turn around of events as far as this is concerned. This can be positive and you may be in for a pleasant surprise. Themes around sharing and autonomy are highlighted with the eclipses in May, June and late November and you may start to see things very differently, or someone sees you very differently. Saturn will have recently entered your sign in November and you will be structuring and disciplining yourself. You have the potential to become a force majeure and if you have found yourself drifting over the years, the eclipse could signal a turning point here. This could be the end of one structure and the beginning of another. The mid November eclipse in your sign could mark a significant turning point. You may decide to take a whole new direction and present yourself in a completely different way. Whatever comes up at this time may open your eyes and alert you to a new way of doing something. Eclipses affect us all in different ways, and their effect is dependent on a lot of factors in our individual chart, however we can look at the themes and position of an eclipse to get an idea about how this may impact you in 2012.

All planets station, direct and retrograde throughout the year. The personal planets Mercury, Venus and Mars have been illustrated in the calendars on the next pages. Pre-retrograde (shadow period) The pre retrograde phase (or shadow) marks a time when we begin to slow down. We may feel the tug of the planets energy as it prepares to go retrograde. This period allows us to gradually ease into the retrograde phase. Station Retrograde We can think of the station as a tipping point this is where the planet stops before it goes retrograde. If we think about standing on a ledge as we are about to tip over, the moment before we fall is perhaps the most tense and this is the feeling we may have at the stationary point. Retrograde The planet is now moving backwards (or we have the illusion of this motion from our positioning on earth) and this is usually a time where we go back to something or work in a different way with the planets energy. Station Direct The planet stops again in preparation to move forward after this point the planet is in direct motion. Post retrograde This period (also called a shadow) eases us out of the retrograde phase as we slowly gather momentum The energy may still be a little diffuse until we move past this phase. Perhaps look at the calendars, note the planets motions and see if you can feel the effects as we go through each phase.
