St. Augustine School Resumes

St. Augustine School is off to another great year! Fifteen teachers and one hundred ninetyone students started school on August 27. St. Augustine School welcomed two new teachers this year, Miss Elizabeth Bell and Miss Hilary Neumann. Miss Bell is a member of St. Augustine Parish and a graduate of St. Augustine School, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, and The University of Akron. She teaches sixth through eighth grade language arts, religion, and math. Miss Neumann is a graduate of St. Vincent School, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, and Loyola University (Chicago). She teaches fourth through eighth grade science, religion, and math. One new and exciting program that St. Augustine School is implementing this year is the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, a nationally-known, researchbased program to reduce bullying. A program kickoff is scheduled for this fall. Watch for more details!

St. Augustine Preschool

St. Augustine Preschool is off to a wonderful start for the school year. Our classes are flourishing and the children are enjoying seeing their teachers and old friends and getting to know new friends as well. Our annual MDA Hop A Thon will be held Friday, September 21. This is not only a wonderful opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause, but also to teach the children about the importance of kindness and acceptance toward others with disabilities. We had a wonderful turnout for the Open House which generated several of our enrollments. We do however have some availability for anyone needing care in our Toddler, Preschool or Latchkey programs.

RCIA
The RCIA Program began on September 10. Our group is smaller this year but, as always, the team is expectant for the mighty ways God will work in everyones lives. Prayer Partners are needed. This involves a simple commitment to pray daily for your inquirer in whatever manner you choose. A Prayer Partner is also invited to send a card, note etc. periodically throughout the year to support the person for whom you are praying. Simple snacks are also requested. Beverages and paper products are provided by the team. Please consider meeting one of these needs; most importantly, pray for the inquirers and team. Thank you.
Just so you know: There will be a Parish Dinner on Sunday, October 14 following the 10:30 am Mass. Please mark your calendar. The food is always delicious. More details will be in the

Stewardship Moment
Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give. Matthew 10:8. Take a moment this day and look back on all the love that has been poured into your life. From your earliest days, when your parents gave you a name, fed, and clothed you and held you with all the love and hope they had. And as time passed, love was given again and again, through sisters and brothers, friends and perhaps a spouse. The giving stretches as far back as you can remember and even way beyond that. It was all given as a gift without expecting anything back, save for the one wish that you would be good and loving and happy. In short, that you would continue giving freely what was so generously given to you. I have been overwhelmed thinking about all that was given me without cost. And I pray that I may give it to those in my life, even though I know I can only give a small fraction of what came my way from so many people. Fr. James Stephen Behrens, O.C.S.O.
