0 Your Professional ePortfolio Plan: The purpose of this plan is to provide a kick-starter and primer for those that have yet to dive into social networks for a professional purpose. It can also assist those that have started the process and are looking to expand into new applications or extend their reach.

1. General a. Usernames consistent when possible, make easy for people to find you b. Integrate many of these tools can link and feed the others

2. Master your own domain do you have a URL (web address) reserved? a. Focus on your name, expertise or what you love b. Have your own corporate persona www.atlasconsultinginc.com

3. Blog a. Sign up with www.Wordpress.com or www.Blogger.com integrate it with your URL b. Focus on your professional voice v. your personal (you can have a separate blog for that if you really want it for personal passions and hobbies) c. About you link out to Linkedin or your most current bio/cv d. Blogroll your filter and recommendations for the BEST blogs on your areas of interest e. Regular quality post (4 times a month) is better than high frequency low quality f. Integrate with your Twitterfeed g. Make sure to comment and cross post on other high profile blogs

4. www.Linkedin.com a. Customize the Linkedin URL for your profile, for example http://www.linkedin.com/in/christianlgray b. If brand new and setting up your profile and/or if you are doing a major update consider turning of the Notify contacts of updates, until you have completed the build/update c. Comprehensive Profile i. Key words matter, density matters (SEO) ii. Headline should be more about how you help others vs. your title iii. Flesh out details in your career history, include results be thoughtful about not sharing inappropriate corporate information d. Tweak your profile once a month to show-up in your network i. Be thoughtful about too much of a good thing dont SPAM your contacts e. Build your network regularly invite new contacts, reach out to old contacts the bigger the network the better, see network effect i. Conferences ii. Continuing Education iii. Alumni Groups (academic and corporate) f. Request and provide recommendations to some key folks (that will actually send some traffic back to your profile) g. Turn on some applications (widget integration) i. Amazon book list what are you reading, following others reading lists (you can learn a ton about someone and have a nice conversation point) ii. Tripit (with all of your travel this will put you on your networks radar frequently, maybe event too often) iii. Twitter be careful about the SPAM factor iv. h. Answers post some relevant answers on questions/industries you care about i. Use it to find subject matter experts ii. Post a few thoughtful questions i. Groups i. Start your own dedicated to ________? ii. Join existing groups connect with members, post discussions threads and news iii. Post to a few on a regular basis point to some of your own blog post, other blog post and news stories j. Events i. Create your own ii. RSVP to get seen k. Review Privacy Settings dial-in the level of sharing or privacy that works for your needs l. Convert your profile to several other languages to increase your international visibility
