Managing Question Banks

Question Banks are a collection of questions. This is the core of the Skilltopia platform. Please note the following:
You will have to create the Question Bank category/s before you start the process of creating question banks Question banks and their categories are used in creating test template. The Skilltopia platform supports the following question types:
Multiple choice single correct Multiple choice multiple correct True and False Fill in the blanks Subjective Questions

Please note that this tutorial does not cover uploading of pictures in questions and answer options. That is covered in a separate tutorial

Log in to the application using your login details at your organizations URL

Select the Question Bank Management link from the drop down menu

This will open a page that lists all the questions made by your organization / made available to you by Skilltopia. Please note that you cannot edit questions made available to you by Skilltopia; but they can be used by you In your templates

To add a new question, add on the + icon

This will open the Add Question page. We start by selecting the type of question we are adding. For now, lets select the multiple choice single correct type

We then select the category/s the question belongs to. Please see the relevant tutorial about managing question bank categories. You can drill the category tree by clicking on the little triangles

We have selected Basic General Knowledge category. You can select more than one categories for a question

Now add the question text.

You can use these icons to create rich text questions like bold, underline, text color, adding tables and pictures in the questions (there is a separate tutorial for adding pictures)

You can similarly add an answer explanation. Answer explanations are useful if you are using the question for internal assessment and training purposes

Now select the questions difficulty level.

Selecting the difficulty level automatically populates the experience , marks and time fields which can be overwritten if needed

You can attach files to a question. They are made available to the candidate while answering the question

We now proceed to add the answer options. Answer options can also have rich text and images

Select the radio button for the correct option .

Just as we provided a question level explanation while forming the question, you can provide an option level explanation if needed.

For multiple choice questions (single or multiple correct), five answer options are offered by default. Minimum two options are At this stage, save the answer needed. options by pressing Add More options can be added by pressing the buttons below

You will now be displayed the question and answer just entered. Scroll down to see everything

Press OK if you are fine with the question added else press Edit to make changes.

Your question has been added to the Question Bank

If the question being added is of Multiple Choice Multiple Correct type, you will be offered a check box for selecting the correct answer/s check all correct answer options

If the question being added is of True and False type, please select the right option as to whether the question statement is true or false

If the question being added is of fill in the blank type, please fill the right answer in the answer option page

If the question being added is subjective, you can provide a text as to what you expect in the answer. Please note that this only serves as a guidance to the assessor the software does not assess subjective questions

If you wish to edit / delete a question, you can use the search and filter options given here

This way, we can create our entire Question Bank . This is a set up activity and need not be done often. Please email us for any clarifications at: support@skilltopia.co.za

All icons are explained at this position in the Skilltopia application Depending on your role and rights, you will be displayed action icons which you can carry out on any question
