PCM600 Setup includes the following software: Protection and Control IED Manager PCM600 Ver. 2.4 SP1 Generic IEC 61850 IED Connectivity Package Ver. 2.4 Adobe Reader X Wavewin Tool for Disturbance Analysis IET600 Ver. 5.1 (license required) requires Windows Installer 4.5 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, which will also be installed (on Windows XP/Server 2003/ Vista). Windows Installer 4.5 requires a reboot. Installation requires administrator rights. In all versions of Windows it might be necessary to switch off or configure antivirus software to not block the installation and operation of PCM600 (e.g. McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention). Prerequisites for using PCM600 Ver. 2.4 SP1 To operate with PCM600, there must be at least one IED Connectivity Package installed and selected to be used with PCM600 Ver. 2.4 SP1. License There is no license required for PCM600 basic functionality. IEC 61850 communication configuration can be activated by purchasing PCM600 Engineering Pro licenses through ABB sales representatives. See the Product Guide for more information. A license is specific to a PC and cannot be moved to another PC.

Windows compatible pointer (e.g. mouse) How to install PCM600 Ver. 2.4 SP1 a) CD Installation: Insert the installation CD into the CD-drive. If the setup doesnt start automatically, execute setup.exe in the root folder of the installation CD. b) Downloaded from ABB Software Library: After free registration, you will get an email with a link to download the executable installation. Start the installation and follow the instructions. After the installation starts, select the needed software components and follow the instructions to complete the installation. PCM600 requires Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express edition. The correct SQL Server instance will be installed automatically. PCM600 Engineering Pro License retrieval and activation Activating a license requires Internet access to ABB Substation Automation Software Library (the PC that has PCM600 installed doesnt require an Internet connection). To retrieve a license and activate PCM600 Engineering Pro, follow these steps: 1. Start PCM600 on the PC where you want to activate a license. Click on Help -> License Activation to open the License activation dialog. Click on the Request button to create a Request file (C2V file) and save it to your hard disk or transfer it to a PC with an Internet connection. 2. Click on the User registration link, or if the PC doesnt have an Internet connection, use a web browser on another PC and go to the address https://www143.abb.com/SoftwareLibrary. Follow the instructions to create an account. 3. A license should be purchased through ABB sales representatives. The customer will receive a Product Key. In the following step, the acquired Product Key must be activated together with the request file created in step 1, at the Software Library. 4. After acquiring the Product Key, go to the Activate page in the Software Library and insert your Product key. Browse to and upload the C2V file created in step 1. An Activation file (V2C file) will be generated. Save it to your hard drive or transfer it to the PC to be activated. 5. In PCM600, click on Activate in the License Activation dialog and browse to the V2C file received from the Software Library. The license is now activated and activation status is shown in the dialog. 6. To upgrade the license, please repeat steps 1 to 5 above and while in step 3, select option a). Upgrading from PCM600 Ver. 1.5 SP2 PCM600 Ver. 1.5 and PCM600 2.4 SP1 can be used on the same computer, but if you only want to use PCM600 Ver. 2.4 SP1, please uninstall PCM600 Ver. 1.5 before installing PCM600 Ver. 2.4 SP1. The Communication Connectivity Packages can also be uninstalled. Before uninstalling PCM600 Ver. 1.5, make an export or backup of the projects. When opening the projects in PCM600 Ver. 2.4 SP1, the projects will be converted automatically. 2

In order to migrate IED 670 configuration from PCM600 Ver. 1.5 to 2.4 SP1 (the whole PCM600 project including all IEDs in the project), please refer to the document 1MRG002586 Configuration Migration for 670 series in PCM600 User Manual", that can be found on the 670 series ConnPack DVD. NOTE: If both PCM600 Ver. 1.5 SP2 and PCM600 Ver. 2.4 SP1 will be installed on the same computer, PCM600 Ver. 1.5 SP2 must be installed before PCM600 Ver. 2.4 SP1. Upgrading from PCM600 Ver. 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4 PCM600 Ver. 2.x (including Service Packs) will be automatically upgraded when installing PCM600 Ver. 2.4 SP1. Changing SQL Server It is possible to change the SQL Server from SQL Server 2000 (from a previous installation of PCM600) to SQL Server Express 2008, or vice versa, using a setup utility that is included on the CD. To launch the utility, insert the CD into the PC where you want to change the SQL Server, browse to the directory UTILITIES on the CD, double-click the file SQLInstaller.exe and follow the instructions. Before doing this, make an export or backup of projects. The utility can also be downloaded using the Update Manager, which is installed together with PCM600. NOTE: As of April 8, 2008, Microsoft has retired mainstream support of SQL Server 2000. It is not compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 7 or later operating systems.
