Auto Breaking and Entering
August 2012
Activity Summary:
There were thirty-one (31) Auto B&Es reported in August 2012. There were nineteen (19) Auto B&Es
reported during the same time frame in 2011. This is a 63% increase from 2011 to 2012.
The zone with the highest number of incidents was West 3 with thirteen (13), or 42%.
The reporting area with the highest number of incidents was C3 with eight (8), or 26%.
Sixteen (16), or 52%, took place at residential locations.
Thirteen (13), or 42%, of the incidents involved forced entry.
Nine (9), or 29%, of the incidents were discovered on a Tuesday.
Twelve (12), or 38%, were discovered between the hours of 0400 to 0759.
Twenty-six (26) incidents are open for further investigation and five (5) have been closed with leads
exhausted.
Historically, HPD has an average of 28 Auto B&Es during the month of August with a current threshold of 16 to 40.
This August, we were within the threshold with 31 reported Auto B&Es.
Forecast for September:
The average number of Auto B&Es for the month of September is 25 plus or minus 17. By the end of September,
there is a 68% chance HPD will have received between 8 and 42 reported Auto B&Es.
