THEORY REQUIREMENTS The ability to explain and demonstrate the following principals: BODY DYNAMICS 1. Centerline/Median line principal 2. Linear/straight line actions 3. Circular actions 4. Center of Balance 5. Turning/pivoting on the balls of the feet 6. Turning from the waist 7. Sidestepping 8. Gliding/Sliding Movement and Circle Stepping (Chinese: Huen-Bo) 9. Striking surfaces of the hands 10. Striking surfaces of the feet 11. Striking surfaces of other body parts (e.g., elbows, knees, shins, forearms, shoulder, head butt) 12. Center of Breathing and Tantien/Hara Breathing STANCES The ability to perform correctly the following stances: 1. Horse/rider stance (Chinese: Ma Bu) 2. Modified Stance (Jeet Kune Do Fighting stance) 3. Side Stance 4. Front Stance/Forward Stance (Japanese: Zenkutu-dachi) 5. Cat Stance 6. Crane Leg Hanging stance (Crane pre-fighting posture) HAND POSITIONS The ability to perform correctly the following hand positions: 1. Wing Chun/WingTsun guard position (Chinese: Chong/Kar-Sik) 2. Protective Arm (Chinese: Wu-Sau) 3. Traditional Karate fighting position (knife hand lead/reverse punch rear hand) 4. Muay Thai boxing/Boxing guard position 5. Tiger Claw (Chinese: Hu Zhao) 6. Circling Hand (Chinese: Huen-Sau) STRIKES WITH HANDS The ability to correctly demonstrate against a target: 1. Character Sun Thrusting Punch (Chinese: Yat Chi Chung Kuen) 2. Throat Cutting Hand (Chinese: Shat-Geng-Sau; Japanese: Shuto) 3. Erect Palm/Stamping Palm (Chinese: Yan-Cheung) 1
4. Thrusting Fingers Strike (Not the 3rd Wing Chun Form) (Chinese: Biu-Tze-Sau)
6. Roundhouse kick followed by Character Sun Thrusting Punch (Alternating sides of the body) 7. Fook-Sau employed as a grappling maneuver, followed by a Knee Strike 8. Using Huen-Sau to dissolve a wrist grapple attack
Optional factors which can be considered toward the students overall testing grade: 1. Demonstrate correctly standard karate Inward/Outward-Outward/Inward blocks 2. Demonstrate correctly the Low Leopard Fighting Stance 3. Demonstrate correctly a Rising Block
INSTRUCTOR MUST EXAMINE THE STUDENT IN PERSON & CERTIFY THE RESULTS IN WRITING. THE STUDENT IS ALLOWED ONLY (3) OPPORTUNITIES TO PERFORM A MOVEMENT (TO DEMONSTRATE) OR ANSWER A QUESTION. (AT LEAST ONE OF THE RESPONSES OF THE THREE MUST BE CORRECT) -END OF TEST-
