Aftermakingthesesettings,clickontheSaveIcontostoretheinformation. TheoperationdescribedabovemustberepeatedforeverySKINNYDDIthatwillbeaddedto theCiscoUnifiedCM.

MakesurethatSCCPisselectedasdeviceprotocol,thenclickNexttoproceed. IntheDeviceInformationarea,addtheMacAddress(IPEI)ofthePolycomKirkHandsetand ensurethatDevicePoolandPhoneButtonTemplateareselectedashighlighted.Noticethe OwnerUserIDwhichmustreflecttheSKINNYDDIthathasbeenassignedtotheUser.Also makesurethatIsActivebuttonischecked.

IntheProtocolSpecificInformationareachosetheDeviceSecurityProfileashighlighted belowandpresssavetostorethisinformationwithintheCUCMserver.

Thedescriptionisusedonlyinternally. AlertingnameisdisplayedwhilstaDeviceringsanotherDevice.Onceconnectedthe Display(InternalCallerID)isshown.

InordertobeabletoregisterKirkHandsetswithCiscoUnifiedCM,licenseunitsareneeded. TocalculatetheamountoflicenseunitsrequiredforaspecificnumberofHandsets,goto System>Licensing>LicenseUnitCalculatorpagefromCUCMadministrationwebpage.


Anewpagesimilartotheonebelowisdisplayed.ScrolldownuntilCisco7940appearsandfill intheboxwiththespecificnumberofhandsetrequiredtoregisterwithCiscoUnifiedCM,then pressCalculate.ThetotalPhoneLicenseUnitsneededwillbedisplayed:

BulkAdministrationTool(BAT)
TheCiscoUnifiedCMBulkAdministrationTool(BAT)letsyouadd,updateordeletealarge numberofsimilarphonesandusersatthesametime.InorderforBATtowork,youneedfirst toactivateBulkProvisioningService(BPS)fromCiscoUnifiedCMServiceability. LogontoCiscoUnifiedServiceabilityfromtheNavigationTab,asshowninthescreendump below:

GotoTools>ServiceActivation:

Anewpagesimilartotheonebelowisdisplayed.GotoCiscoBulkProvisioningService(found inDatabaseandAdminServicescategory)andactivateit(bycheckingthebox)thenclickon Savetostoretheinformation.ActivationstatusshouldchangetoActivated.

Oncetheserviceisactivated,logonintoCiscoUnifiedCMAdministrationpageandgotoBulk Administration>Upload/DownloadFiles:

Anewpageastheonebelowisdisplayed.ClickonFindandsearchforbat.xltinthelist.Check leftsidetheboxandclickonDownloadSelected.Savethefileonyourharddrive.

Openthebat.xltspreadsheetyoujustsavedonyourmachine. Whenprompted,clickEnableMacrostousespreadsheetcapabilities. ClickonPhonesUserstabatthebottomofthespreadsheet. OwnerUserID:userIDoftheassignedphoneuser.Ex:9998 DirectoryNumber1:phonenumber(SKINNYDDI).Ex:9998 AlertingName1:isdisplayedwhilstadeviceringsanotherdevice.Onceconnectedthe Display1isshown. AlertingNameAscii1:sameasAlertingName,butonlyASCIIcharacters Display1:ifblankthesystemwilldisplaytheextension. ASCIIDisplay1:sameasDisplay1.
