Let Osaka City Carry Your Trash for You

For Osaka residents who cannot throw out their own waste, such as elderly persons who live on their own or families with physically-handicapped persons, the Environmental Management Bureau will throw domestic, recyclable, bulky, plastic containers and packing or irregular waste away for you upon request. Contact the environmental management center in your neighborhood.

Pneumatic Waste Collection System

With a "Pneumatic waste collection system", waste is carried through a vacuum-type underground pipe system from each household to incineration plants or a waste transfer station. This system was adopted for the first time in Japan in Osaka, at the Morinomiya Second Residential Complex (approx. 2, 000 households) and Nanko Port Town (approx. 10, 000 households), as a waste collection system for high-rise apartments.

The structure must be simple and safe for discharge and collection, and must be set up in a place that is convenient for discharge and collection. 3. Must be designed so that waste does not spill or flow out, and must not give off foul odors. 4. Must be provided with water supply and drainage, ventilation and lighting equipment.
