CORROSION RESISTANCE OF BI METAL

Corrosion resistance of a substance is improved by metallurgical bonding an alloy with good corrosion resistance (NACE/USA) World around (USA, Germany, France, UK, Belgium, Japan and China) hot rolled bonded corrosion resistance alloy clad steel plates are produced in large quantities. (NACE/USA June 2010)

INDUCTION COOKING
Induction cooking uses induction heating No heat transfer from electrical coils or burning gas or fire wood etc

INDUCTION COOKING WORKING PRINCIPLE

The alternating electric current flowing through a Copper/Aluminium coil produces magnetic field. This field induces am electric current in the pot which produces resistive heating and thus heating the medium in the pot.

ADVANTAGES OF INDUCTION COOKING

n n n n

Faster Energy efficient Instant control and heats only the pot Does not heat the air around

STEEL VS ALUMINIUM
n

The Ferro magnetic properties of a steel vessel concentrate the induced current in a thin layer near its surface which makes the heating effect stronger In non-magnetic material like Aluminium, the magnetic field penetrates too far. The induced current encounters little resistance To get same surface resistance as with steel the copper bottom vessel would be1/56 the thickness of steel pot

BI METALS AND COOKWARE

Consumption of SS is high in Indian cookware industry Aluminium is also consumed by cookware industry.

BI-METAL COOKWARE
If an Aluminium-SS (430/less than 0.1% Nickel Austenitic) Bi-Metal circle is used by the cookware industry, they will be 1. Having the best of properties of both the metals 2. Induction compatible 3. All round inductance 4. Energy conservation 5. Cooking is enjoyable 6. No radiated heat 7. More efficient heating

NEAREST COMPETITION
China makes 2-ply and 3-ply in SSAl/Cu-SS 430 grade SS is kept out when cookware is made to facilitate induction

INDIAN SCENARIO
Majority of the cookware is made from Patta rolled material Cookware people are demanding ready to use circles and pre-polish strips. Patta rolling factories can adopt BI-Metal rolling with least modifications/additions. Thus SS and Aluminium co-exist in cookware industry proving good consumer benefits. Usage of induction cooking will conserve crude oil and reduce kerosene and LPG usage.
