As you all probably know by now, as of this morning, President Obama had no scheduled plans to visit Louisiana -- the state hit hardest by Hurricane Isaac. That is, until newly minted GOP nominee Mitt Romney announced immediately after his convention that he would visit the storm-ravaged area. Romney's there now as I write this and not long after his trip was announced, liked a jilted suitor on the chase, President Obama announced he would squeeze in some time for a similar visit.
Obama obviously didnt care about visiting Louisiana because it can do nothing to help his reelection bid. Obama is nothing if not mercenary when it comes to holding on to power, so why visit a state stupid, racist, and misguided enough to give Romney all of its electoral votes (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president /la/louisiana_romney_vs_obama-2942.html). But as he's done for the last 20 days; today, Romney out-flanked Obama, announced his visit, and forced Obama into a defensive crouch where he had to change his selfish plans. I don't want to be "that guy", however, the things going on in Louisiana, are not a national level, or, executive level concern. Kudos to Romney for putting the campaign on defense, but, to me as long as this tool is the duly elected leader of the free world, I would prefer we did not try to make hay out of non-incidents. Progressive compassion should be considered an oxymoron. The only reason why Obama changed his schedule to assess the damage that a hurricane brought to LA, was due to Romney. It was not out of genuine concern over the plight of those displaced, hurt, sick or needy. I am amazed at the progressive trolls trying to minimize the impact this hurricane had on the residents of LA. Independent voters are watching and listening now.

Seems like the hurricane damage wasn't very severe, so Obama visited the troops at Fort Bliss today. Romney couldn't mention the troops at all in his 45 minute speech. Nor the war in Afghanistan. Pres. Obama also signed an executive order making access to mental health care easier for troops. But at least Mitt got to show off his new plane!

The sad thing is that the people most in danger when hurricanes hit the South are poor blacks, who are also Obama's most devoted followers. But they don't swing elections, except in Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. You can't accuse Obama of not knowing how to count electoral votes.

This is a great example of why leadership in the oval office is more important than celebrity. Obama is the president of America, not The Union of Democratic Voting States. Pretty sure Romney would be in CA, if that is where the disaster occured, because Americans (not the sub-set of Republicans and Democrats, or a crucial voting block) needed help and support from other Americans. It is what leaders do!
