O GOD OUR CREATOR, from your provident hand we have received our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You have called us as your people and given us the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God, and your Son, Jesus Christ. Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society. We ask you to bless us in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty. Give us the strength of mind and heart to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened; give us courage in making our voices heard on behalf of the rights of your Church and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith. Religious Education Registration 2012-13

Our parish is getting ready for another great year in Religious Education for our young people. Registration information has been mailed out to our families. Please look for your information in the mail. Registration forms are also available online at: ourladyofvictory.cc (under the Religious Education tab). Classes will begin on Sunday, September 16th - 9:30am for grades K-5th and at 6:00pm for 6th-8th. Religious Ed. Registration forms are due back to our office by September 5th. In addition, please keep in mind that our First Communion Preparation is a two year program beginning in 1st grade. Class attendance is extremely important. If you are new to the parish and have not registered your children or for more information, please contact us at our office: religioused@ourladyofvictory.cc or 486-7678, Mrs. Schechter, DRE or Pat Fulcher, Admin. Assistant. We invite all parishioners to pass this information along to their relatives and friends.

Religious Education PARENT Expectations:

Parents of children in Grades K-5th are to escort children both to and from the lower Parish Life Center (PLC) at the beginning and ending of EACH class for the childrens safety. Your family is expected to regularly participate in the life of the OLV Parish, including regular Sunday Mass attendance and active participation in the many available ministries. Each of our parish ministries is unique and provides for the involvement of both inexperienced and experienced parishioners in many different ways. Your financial contributions to our parish are vital as they support the parish ministries and activities. We urge all families to be generous in their giving. ALL Registered Religious Education Families MUST attend two mandatory parent meetings this fall on the following dates:

Parents are expected to send their children regularly to Sunday class and to enroll their children each year in our program until they receive the sacrament of Confirmation. This ongoing faith formation helps to ensure that students will receive sufficient knowledge of their faith in order to receive the sacraments. More importantly, it is our hope that through religious education, students will come to understand the love God has for each of us and how to continue to live their faith.

JAMES BIBLE STUDY

Our Lady of Victory Parish Life Center September 18, 2012-November 27, 2012 Tuesday morning 9:30-11:00 am Q: WHO CAN ATTEND THE BIBLE STUDY? A: All are welcomewhether this is the first time you will have studied the Bible or whether you have done other Bible studies in the past. Q: WHAT IS THE TOPIC OF STUDY THIS YEAR? A: This 10-week study will be focusing on the book of James, which is one of the most practical books of the Bible. James is a collection of teachings on issues faced by ordinary Christians in everyday life. These teachings speak loudly to all those who feel torn between the competing demands of this world and their faith. This study offers pearls for wise living by applying the wisdom of James to the present. Q: WHAT DOES THE 1 HOUR CLASS CONSIST OF EACH WEEK? A: Each week there will be homework (reading of scripture and answering of questions). During class time, we will discuss the questions in small groups for the first 30 minutes, then the whole group will watch the DVD of Jeff Cavins, who is a renowned Catholic Bible Teacher heard often on EWTN, for approximately 50 minutes. We will end the session in prayer. Q: CAN I SHARE THE NOTEBOOK? DO I HAVE TO BUY THE NOTEBOOK? A: If you are in the same household, you could share the notebook. It is most advantageous to have your own notebook, so you can write your own reflections to homework and questions during the study. We do highly recommend buying the notebook; however, you are welcome to come to the study without the notebook. You will still benefit from the discussion and lectures. THE STAR AWARD: Catholic Social Services is soliciting nominations for the Star Award presented at the annual Breakfast With The Bishop. The Star Award is awarded to a person who has made a significant impact on the lives of others through his or her commitment consistent with the values of Catholic Social Services. In order to be considered for the award, the person must fulfill certain criteria. 2012 BLUE MASS: St. Timothy Church and St. Timothy Knights of Columbus Council 14345 will host the 2012 Blue Mass on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. The Blue Mass is an opportunity to honor and pray for all active, retired and deceased police, firefighters, and emergency medical services. In addition, it is an occasion to remember the 2,973 who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The Blue Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Frederick F Campbell, DD, PhD at St. Timothy Church, 1088 Thomas Lane, Columbus, OH 43220. Concelebrants will be Fr. Timothy M. Hayes, Pastor, Msgr.
