are all averaging about

BROCCOLI & CAULIFLOWER

Cantaloupe supplies have tightened as extreme heat affects production and sizing. Markets are firm. Honeydew markets are stable. Flavors are great.

in fruits are almost 100% sugar, therefore refractometers are widely used to check maturity in fruits. The number will be % of solids as sucrose.

Broccoli and Cauliflower supplies are steady with good quality.

ONIONS

CELERY

Markets are strong as California and Michigan produce lighter supplies. Quality is good.

Markets are steady. California production will continue until September. Growing areas in Oregon and Ontario have begun.

Pineapple is averaging about

GREEN PEPPERS & SQUASH

CITRUS LEMONS

Good supplies and quality. Imports from Mexico and Chile are available.

Green Pepper markets have strengthened. Quality is good. East Coast Squash quality has been affected by heat. West Coast supplies are good with fair quality.

CITRUS LIMES

RED PEPPERS

Markets are stable. However, rains from a previous tropical storm have caused styler and skin breakdown.

Red and Yellow Pepper markets are steady with good quality.

PINEAPPLES

CITRUS ORANGES

Supplies are good. Due to extreme heat, regreening has occurred. Smaller size fruit is tighter. Import Navels are available.

As a result of extreme heat, there is a seasonal shortage of Pineapple, mostly affecting larger size fruit. Occasional instances of greener shell has been noted as well but quality remains good. These conditions are expected to last 3-4 weeks.

CUCUMBER & EGGPLANT

Cucumber and Eggplant supplies have been affected by heat in growing regions. Markets on both commodities remain steady. Quality is fair.

POTATOES

Brix Scale Low: 8-10%

GRAPES

Green and Red grape markets are steady. Supplies are plentiful and quality is great. Black Grapes and Red Globes are also available.

Markets are active as heat on the East Coast have caused supplies to tighten. West Coast markets have come off. Cherry and Grape tomatoes are tight.

LETTUCE

Hot temperatures have driven Lettuce markets up, especially on Romaine and Leaf varieties. Occasional defects such as wind burn, puffy heads and mildew have been noted.
