We have a requirement, where in we need to run the same workflow in parallel for different set of records at the same time. PS: both users need to run same workflow for both eg: user 1 needs to run workflow 1 for his own set of records user 2 also needs to run workflow 1 for his own set of records at the same time. We plan to invoke INFA through pmcmd. Is it possible to achive the same in INFA 8. If so , how. As we understand this was not possible in 7.

As per my understanding you can not run work flow which is in running state. For this you can do another approach. create reusable session and create two work flows for same session. Regards, Veeru Products + Services

I think the same way as Veeru do. To my knowledge u cannot run the same workflow parallely. When user 1 opens a workflow and starts executing, I wonder how can a second user can run it since the user 2 faces a lock on the workflow. But, can we run the same workflow if it is placed in two different folders? Please share if you find an answer. gud luck.

How read it for version 8: Use the concept of concurrent workflows.Using pmcmd and using different parameter files we can achieve this. In workflow you need to enable the configure concurrent execution tab.Define each workflow instance name and configure a workflow parameter file for the instance. You can define different sources, targets, and variables in the parameter file. In monitor you can see same workflow running with different instance name: wf_sales [Instance1] wf_sales [Instance2] wf_sales [Instance1] wf_sales [Instance2] So the syntax is: pmcmd startworkflow [<-folder|-f> folder] [<-startfrom> taskInstancePath [<-recovery|-norecovery>]] [<-paramfile> paramfile] [<-localparamfile|-lpf> localparamfile] [<-osprofile|-o> osProfile] [-wait|-nowait] [<-runinsname|-rin> runInsName] workflow here [<-runinsname|-rin> runInsName] is the intance name which you need to pass while calling the pmcmd for diff instances. varun sharma Solutions

unique instance name from versions higher than 8.1. And this works as expected and is a useful upgrade in 8.6.

Run workflow in parallel First of all, let me clarify - this option is available harshaarepalli123

only in version 8.6 and higher. In order to run the same workflow parallely(concurrent Workflows): 1. Enabale the concurrency in workflow properties(Workflow Menu-->Edit-->Enable concurrent workflow execution --> Allow concurrent run only with unique instance) 2. Create Instance in the workflow properties and specify individual parameter files for each instance. RUNINSTANCE1=param_1 RUNINSTANCE2=param_2 3. Use can have shell script to create the above parameter files in runtime. 4. Informatica will create runid and append date and time stamp for all the log files it creates.
