Getting the most out of a precious resource.

The demand for water is growing exponentially. With the world population expected to grow from 6.5 billion in 2010 to 9.5 billion in 2050and the steadily increasing demand for food and manufactured goodsthe pressure on limited fresh water resources is rapidly becoming unsustainable. The search for alternate water resources is more critical than ever. But the reality is that wastewater reuse and seawater desalination are currently the only significant alternatives to address this challenge. Dow, a leading provider of innovative solutions to address the global water crisis, recognizes that much more needs to be done to alleviate the critical shortage of usable water in many parts of the world.

Raising the standard in innovative wastewater treatment processes.

Dow Water and Process Solutions (DW&PS) offers a broad range of sustainable and quality component technologies so industry and communities can make the most of every drop of water that is available for reuse. For decades, DW&PS has been a trusted name in water treatment solutions used in a variety of applications worldwide and is now applying its experience in the area of wastewater treatment and reuse. Dows high-end product portfolio, targeted for applications related to municipal and industrial water reuse, include: Reverse Osmosis and Nanofiltration Ultrafiltration Ion Exchange Membrane Bioreactors

Reverse Osmosis (RO)

Ultrafiltration (UF)

Known for DOW FILMTEC elements, DW&PS has developed an innovative XFR fouling resistant technology and optimized spacer design for challenging water treatment. Applying this tech-nology to its high rejection and low energy membranes, DW&PS now offers a range of 8" products tailored specifically for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. Low energy consumption, high fluxes, less cleanings and high rejection of contaminants significantly improve business sustainability and enable the reuse of water in challenging applications such as indirect potable reuse or industrial processes.

DOW Ultrafiltration modules feature an outside-in configuration for higher solids loading. The PVDF membrane material and very narrow pore size distribution make the modules a very good choice for wastewater treatment and offer high removal of suspended solids, bacteria, viruses and organics. Applying the same science and quality that have made DOW FILMTEC elements so successful worldwide, DOW Ultrafiltration modules are aimed at establishing a standard in ultrafiltration.

Ion Exchange (IX)

Membrane Bioreactor (MBR)

DOWs leading IX brands, including DOWEX, AMBERLITE and AMBERLYST, are used in many industrial and municipal wastewater treatment applications to remove trace contaminants, heavy metals and organics. Through ion exclusion or adsorption, IX resins can provide a cost effective solution for low concentration contaminant removal especially when the wastewater streams can be concentrated with other technologies such as reverse osmosis, or when they make downstream processes more efficient.

DOW Membrane Bioreactor modules are the latest DW&PS innovation in filtration. The new fiber design of the module embeds Dows chemistry experience and precise engineering to address existing membrane bioreactor issues. DOW Membrane Bioreactor modules round out the companys broad range of filtration technology that can be applied to wastewater treatment. Combining advanced filtration components from Dow offers you a unique opportunity to optimize wastewater treatment processes and multiply savings.
