Recruited back to Motorola (see 1989-1993) as a Project/Software Integration Manager for the Personal Mobile Device Division developing wireless handsets for various carriers, including the most recent Android products. Project Manager with embedded software responsibilities for numerous mobile devices. As the Project Manager, responsible for the development and delivery of phone software to Motorola factories for mass production. In addition, responsible for carrier acceptance testing for final delivery to carrier store fronts. Responsible for analyzing returns and creating maintenance releases to address software defects found in the field. Special Task Force Manager of numerous teams responsible for resolving critical product and manufacturing issues involved with the real world delivery of complex electronics. Teams have represented Motorola and its dedication to customer commitment and quality. Worked with Motorola Customer Support Teams, carriers, QCOM and hardware vendors to discuss issues encountered by carrier testing and customer returns. Principal Software Engineer designated as a protocol specialist developing software for WaterCove's GSM and UMTS network devices. GPRS protocol stack development, integration, and maintenance. Developed and tested code with internal test tools. Traveled to international conformance test labs to certify software on live networks, make on-site code modifications and gain more information about the certification process. Developed, coded, and tested billing functionality as defined by ETSI and 3GPP standards. Software lead responsible for interoperability testing with third-party vendors for charging and GPRS backbone compatibility. Consultant to other WaterCove software teams. Provided data communication protocol expertise to develop a CAMEL III based prepaid solution, develop database functions; coded SNMP handlers and MIB support functions to help teams meet critical system milestones deadlines. Developed system integration test plans to simulate live network operations and maintenance. USRobotics/3COM Lead Software Engineer 7/1993 8/2000 Lead software engineer developing and supporting protocol stacks for various gateway products. Responsibilities included design, development, system certification, and customer support.
