And I (Allh) created not the jinns and humans except they
should worship Me (Alone). (Adh-Dhariyat 51:56)
Iarc cj ar Lrca||ca aad cad|ag cj |ac Mc::cagcr: Allah has created us and He has created this creation for a great wisdom, as He said in His Book: And I (Allh) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone). (Adh-Dhariyat 51:56) So this is the wisdom: It is to worship Him. Thus, worship is our first and main job in this word. It is obligatory upon us to know that we know this job, and that we start to learn about it. It is worshipping Him, the Most High and Exalted, and this worship cannot be understood just by our intellect. It is understood and known by the legislation of Islam, by the Quraan and the Sunnah. Allah, the Most High and Exalted sent the Messengers for this purpose. This was the call of the Messengers. They called to Allah and to worship Him and none other than Him. As Allah, the Most High and Exalted says: And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): "Worship Allh (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Tght (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Tght besides Allh)." (An-Nahl 16:36) And And We did not send any Messenger before you (O Muham- mad sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) but We inspired him (saying): L ilha illa Ana [none has the right to be worshipped but I (Allh)], so worship Me (Alone and none else)." (Al-Anbiya 21:25) Mcaa|ag cj [aa I|aaa I||a d||ah The meaning of laa ilaha illa Allah is that we negate ilaha anything that can be worshipped. And in the second part of this statement we affirm illa Allah Allah as the ONLY One we can worship. This is the meaning of laa ilaha illa Allah: Negating other than Allah as something to be worshiped and affirming that Allah is the only One to be worshipped. Allah, the Exalted says: Whoever disbelieves in Tght and believes in Allh, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allh is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (Al-Baqarah 2:256) And because of this (laa ilaha illa Allah), the Messengers were sent. And because of this (laa ilaha illa Allah), there is punishment and there is reward. And because of this (laa ilaha illa Allah), there is paradise and there is Hell. And because of this (laa ilaha illa Allah), the Day of Judgment has been set up for us. And because of this (laa ilaha illa Allah), all of our actions will be taken; will be shown to us in front of Allah and we will be reckoned for them. Uadcr:|aad|ag I:|am The word, "Islam," is an Arabic word that means, "submitting and surrendering your will to Almighty God. The word comes from the same root as the Arabic word "salam, which means peace. The deen (religion) of Islam: It is the way of life that Allah sent the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhe wa sallam with. By it, Allah terminated the validity of all other religions, perfected this religion for His worshippers, completed His favor upon them and has chosen only this religion for them no other religion will be accepted by Him from anyone. Allah, the Most High says: This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. (Al-Ma'idah 5:3) The religion of Islam contains all that was beneficial from the previous religions. It is suitable for implementation in any age, anywhere and by any nation. Allah, the Most High said, whilst addressing His Messenger sallallahu alayhe wa sallam: "And We have sent down to you (O Muhammad sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) the Book (this Quraan) in truth, confirming the Scripture that came before it and Mohayminan (trustworthy in highness and a witness) over it (old Scrip- tures)." (Al-Ma'idah 5:48) The religion of Islam is the religion of truth. It is the way of life that Allah guaranteed His help and victory for those who truly adhere to it, and that He would make it dominant over all other religions. Allah, the Most High says: "It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad sallal- lahu alayhe wa sallam) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allh) hate (it)." (At-Tawbah 9:33) The religion of Islam is a complete religion comprising both 'aqeedah (beliefs) and Sharee'ah (laws). It commands them with tawheed (to single out Allah alone for worship) and prohibits them from shirk (associating partners with Allah in that which is particular to Him). Likewise, it orders all actions, which are righteous and good and prohib- its all actions that are evil and harmful. Allah says: Verily, Allh enjoins Al-Adl (i.e. justice and worshipping none but Allah Alone - Islamic Monotheism) and Al-Ihsn [i.e. to be patient in performing your duties to Allh, totally for Allah's sake and in accordance with the Sunnah (legal ways) of the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam in a perfect manner], and giving (help) to kith and kin (i.e. all that Allh has ordered you to give them e.g., wealth, visiting, looking after them, or any other kind of help, etc.): and forbids Al-Fahsh' (i.e all evil deeds, e.g. illegal sexual acts, disobedience of parents, polytheism, to tell lies, to give false witness, to kill a life without right, etc.), and Al-Munkar (i.e all that is prohibited by Islamic law: polytheism of every kind, disbelief and every kind of evil deeds, etc.), and Al-Baghy (i.e. all kinds of oppression), He admonishes you, that you may take heed. (An-Nahl 16:90) 8amadaa a/ a |aacc We fast during the month of Ramadan because Allah, the Most High says: O you who believe! Observing the fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become al-Muttaqoon (the pious). (Al-Baqarah 2:187) And because the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, Islam is built upon five (pillars) [Sahih Al-Bukhari & Muslim] and amongst them he mentioned the fast of Rama- dan. And fasting is worshiping Allah by refraining from eating and drinking and legal sexual intercourse and from all the invali- dators of fasting from dawn until sunset. - As Allah says: And eat and drink until the white thread (light) of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread (darkness of night), then complete your Saum (fast) till the nightfall. (Al-Baqarah 2:187) The Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, Whoever fasts during the month of Ramadan, out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, then all his previous sins will be forgiven. [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]
The Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, Whoever stands (in Taraweeh prayer) with perfect faith and seeking reward during the month of Ramadan, he will have his previ- ous sins forgiven. [Al-Bukhari & Muslim] And the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, The people will remain in good so long as they hasten to break the fast (at it's appointed time). [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] And the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, Take the sahoor (pre-dawn meal), for indeed in the sahoor there is blessing. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, "Whoever does not abandon evil speech and actions, then Allah is not in need of him having left his food and drink." [Al-Bukhari] Allah says: "Verily! We have sent it (this Qur'n) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree). The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allh in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months)." (Al-Qadr 97:1,3) The Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, Whoever stands (in Taraweeh prayer) on the Night of Power (Laylatul-Qadr) with perfect faith and seeking reward, he will have his previous sins forgiven. [Al-Bukhari & Muslim] The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, Seek out Laylatul-Qadr during the odd nights of the last ten (nights) of Ramadan. [Al-Bukhari] Regarding the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, When the final ten nights of Ramadan arrived he used spend the night awake and awaken his family, and exert himself (in worship) and tighten his waist belt. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] TN: Tighten his waist belt: is a manner of speech implying he used to exert himself in worship. 'Aa.ishah radi Allahu anha said, I said O Messenger of Allah: What should I say if I know which night is Laylatul- Qadr? He said: Say: O Allah! You are the One who pardons greatly, and loves to pardon, so pardon me. [Saheeh, At-Tirmidhee] The Night of Al-Qadr is in the last ten nights of Ramadan, based on the saying of the Prophet: "Search for the Night of Al-Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadaan." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] And it falls in one of the odd nights more likely than on the even nights, based on the Prophet's sallallahu alayhe wa sallam saying: "Search for the Night of Al-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan." [Al-Bukhari] And it is closer to the last seven nights, based on the hadith of Ibn 'Umar radi Allahu anhu that: "Some men from the Companions of Allah's Messenger saw the Night of Al-Qadr in a dream during the last seven nights (of Rama- dan). So the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said: 'I see that all of your dreams agree that it (the Night of Al-Qadr) is in the last seven nights. So whoever wants to search for it, then let him search for it in the last seven nights.'" [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] The Night of Al-Qadr is not specified to one fixed night throughout all the years. Rather, it constantly changes. So, one year it could occur on the twenty-seventh night for example and on another year it could occur on the twenty- fifth night, according to Allah's Will and Wisdom. Allah has hidden knowledge of its occurrence as a mercy for His servants so that they can increase their actions in the search for it during these honorable nights. And He also kept it hidden from them as a test for them to distin- guish who amongst them struggles and makes an effort to find it and who is lazy and negligent.
