David Brock, head of the progressive, left-wing media "watchdog" group Media Matters, has released an opposition research book on Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan through Brock's super PAC American Bridge 21st Century.
Brock's American Bridge super PAC is also tied to Bill Burton's super PAC, Priorities USA. As you may recall, Priorities USA recently ran an ad (http://www.youtube.com /watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Nj70XqOxptU) accusing Mitt Romney of killing Joe Soptic's wife, a claim also tied directly to the Obama campaign (http://www.breitbart.com /Big-Journalism/2012/08/09/Connecting-The-Dots-On-Soptic). Due to initial lackluster fundraising by both Brock's and Burton's super PACs, they combined to form American Priorities Joint Fundraising Committee (http://dyn.politico.com/members/forums /thread.cfm?catid=25&subcatid=82&threadid=6653747). Obama's super PACs have no problem getting into the campaign mud. Be on alert when Brock's "research" hits the mainstream media on TV, internet, and print journalism. Though Brock may point to much that is useful to get to know more about Ryan in this Research Report there are many critical questions that need to be addressed: 1. How much of this is actually allows attacking Ryan on insignificant issues to avoid dealing with the most pressing issues facing Americans? Is he not using this as a smokescreen for Obama? 2. Is the information distorted by not having the full context? 3. If Brock is so concerned about misinformation why is he not eager and promoting as rigorous a Research Report on Obama which includes his time as senator and as president? 4. Is Bock characterized by meticulous research and careful reasoning or does he rather play fast and loose with the truth? I think there is more than a whiff of hypocrisy.

None of this is true. Any expert who looks at Ryans plan any intelligent and fair-minded person, really can tell you the actual worst-case scenario for how much more it could make beneficiaries pay: $0. The claim Axelrod and Messina are making is based on a hostile interpretation of an earlier version of Ryans proposal. Ryan has changed the proposal over the last year, however, and Romney has endorsed the new version. The Democratic criticism, applied to the new plan, is indisputably false. The Romney-Ryan proposal which has the support of liberal Democratic senator Ron Wyden of Oregon would let senior citizens choose a coverage plan provided either by the federal government or by a private company. The government would defray the cost of purchasing the plan selected. The providers would submit bids showing the premiums they would charge to cover the benefits Medicare has traditionally offered. The second-lowest bid would set the amount the government would provide for each beneficiary. Seniors who picked the second-cheapest provider would have their entire premium paid by the government, and seniors who picked the cheapest would get a check for the difference. Seniors who picked a more expensive plan would have to pay the difference out of pocket. We have reason to be confident that this arrangement would restrain the growth of costs. A study has just shown that applying the second-cheapest-bidder approach to even the much less robust form of competition in Medicare Advantage would have resulted in a 9 percent reduction in Medicare costs in one year alone. The savings from years of real competition could be enormous. If, however, competition does not restrain costs, the growth of government spending per beneficiary will be capped at a level a bit above the growth rate of the economy plus inflation. That is the exact level that the Obama administration envisions as well. The administration, however, hopes to reach the target by setting low prices for medical providers and otherwise micromanaging medical markets. There have been many past efforts along these lines, and they have always failed. Under a worst-case scenario, then, the Romney-Ryan plan costs senior citizens no more than current law. It offers the hope of doing considerably better: of reining in the costs of Medicare, the principal cause of long-term debt disaster, without sacrificing patient choice, the quality of health care, or medical innovation. Republicans should explain that they have found a promising strategy to stave off national bankruptcy while improving senior citizens health care, and explain also the alternative of bureaucratic rationing Obama has in store for them. If Obama and his aides persist in claiming that the Romney-Ryan plan will increase costs for senior citizens or shift risks to them, Republicans and fair-minded observers should not hesitate to call these charges what they are: lies.

Just saw (on TV) Ryan at Iowa State Fair...not impressed. Walking onstage Ryan tried to joke around; pulled-up some football jerseys from the crowd. He had a female heckler from the on-set and tired, again, to joke his way into his beginning segment as troopers hustled the wolverine away, "I guess she's not from Iowa..." Ha, ha, ho ho. He should have debated the agit-bitch right there and got on with the nightmare of Obama. In a crowd setting he looks like a uppity boy scout. RomneyRyan had better get real and get dirty and get on it or we've got Obama again.

Let the Democrat smear all they want. Hell, no matter who Romney selected they were going to go after him with their usual barrage of vile lies, outrageous slander and ignorant BS anyway. Just like they have with Romney. What the pick of Ryan as VP does is focus the election on the economy, Obama's biggest weakness. It also fires up the conservative base and eliminates most potential objections to Romney by that same base. Obama's media lapdogs will try like hell to shift the conversation away from the economy, with Ryan that's going to be much harder to do. And Ryan's already been through the MSM smear mill, he can take it. Bring it on, Brock, bring it on. WAR!

What a incredibly corrupt gig these people have colluding with highly influential public and semi-public figures with huge axes to grind on a daily basis to get their lies straight.
