AT&T expands mobile Internet network to Effingham County

AT&T has announced the expansion of its mobile Internet network to several cities in Effingham County, extending access for advanced mobile services, devices and feature-rich audio and video content to customers in the area. The mobile Internet network has been expanded to Altamont, Beecher City, Edgewood, Effingham, Mason and Montrose cities. AT&Ts mobile Internet network is based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) family of technologies that includes GSM and UMTS, the most widely used wireless network platforms in the world. Consumers and businesses are driving the transformation to new communications technologies, including smartphones and mobile devices, said AT&T Illinois President Paul La Schiazza. At AT&T, we continue investing in our Illinois networks to meet the ever-growing mobile Internet demands of consumers and businesses. Illinois must ensure it adopts more modern communications laws to further attract private investment in broadband networks that fuel economic growth and jobs in our state. Jail inspection report available for public review

The Effingham County Clerks office announced the latest inspection report of the Effingham County Jail is now on file for public review at the clerks office in Effingham. This report is provided to the county by the Illinois Department of Corrections. The Illinois Compiled Statutes mandates the Department of Corrections to inspect county jails annually and to make the results available for public review. Criminal Justice Specialist Dianne Fritschle, who conducted the inspection of the Effingham County Jail on July 10, noted in the report that Jail Administrator Marnie Raber and her staff continue to maintain a high level of professionalism.
