Gutirrez Covey Students Voluntary Oral Participation (Observation Scale) Objective: To determine the way in which students participate in class, whether they use yes/no answers, short phrases, complete sentences, or participation in Spanish whenever oral participation is voluntary. Instructions: Carry out 5 scans every 10 minutes. In each scan, determine the number of times students participate, and the number of students who participate. Formulate the percentages.

Gutirrez Covey Oral Voluntary Participations Pre-Test (Observation) PART I. Objective: To observe students in-class participation (solicited or volunteered). Description: The diagram below illustrates the kind of participation of each student during fifty minutes. Each square represents a student, and the rectangular of the corner represents the teachers desk. The observer encloses those students who are either silent or talkative. The letter V means volunteered oral participation, and the letter S means solicited oral participation. Instructions: Write a V when a student participates voluntarily in an oral way. Second, write an S when the teacher solicits a student to participate orally and the student does.

PART II. Objective: To observe the type of volunteered participation (Spanish or English). Instructions: 1. Carry out 5 scans every 10 minutes. 2. List in the English column the number of students who participate in English. 3. List in the Spanish column the number of students who participate in Spanish. 4. Formulate the percentages.
