Multi User Mode: In this mode apart from root user other user can also login to the system and they can access resources and applications of the system.

In single user mode the run level is S where as in multiuser mode the runlevel is 3

Main difference is that Network Services will not work in Single user mode. Network Serviceses will work in Multi user mode.
