AMLC Business Meeting Minutes at ABA Annual in Chicago August 4, 2012 at 7:30 AM Central Participants: Chris Nolan, Harmony

Loube Jones, Phil Brickman, Janice Hugenar, Pamela Palmer, Gavin O'Hare I. II. Introductions of attendees and involvement in admiralty matters Gavin OHare from CED Technologies provided a presentation on the companys background and capabilities as experts and consultants for both marine and non-marine matters. West Legal Ed Center West has indicated they are interested in obtaining additional Admiralty content in light of the Committees last CLE on the North American ECA. A potential CLE concerning Jones Act or Limitation of Liability Act are being considered.

IV. Newsletter the latest issue came out several days in advance of the Annual Meeting. The next issue is anticipated to be published in October 2012. Please contact Harmony Loube if you are interesting in contributing an article. V. Law Student Writing Competition 17 submissions were received. Cardozo University student Lucy Martucci wrote the winning submission and received funding to attend the Annual Meeting. a. Chicago Yacht Club lunch the lunch was a giant success with 24 attendees including both AMLC and Business Litigation Committee members, section leadership and section sponsors. Special thanks to Doug Albritton for assisting the committee in securing the beautiful venue. b. La Quinta (Fall Meeting) the Committee is looking into a possible law student event at a Los Angeles area law school with the assistance of Committee member Jefferson Poole as well as a potential hockey night event at Staples Center when the Kings take on the NY Rangers. c. Dallas (Mid-Year Meeting) the Committees Strategic Planning Meeting will be in Dallas. A possible event focusing on the oil and gas industry was discussed and Phil Brickman will assist. d. Washington, D.C. (Spring Meeting) the Committee is considering an event with a government entity such as MARAD for an educational/social program. e. San Francisco (Annual Meeting) the Committee will have a special event tied to the America's Cup event. Blythe Daly is working on access to yachts which will be in town for trials. Janice Hugenor will also work on this potential project. VII. Membership Outreach if you are interested in getting more involved in the Committee contact incoming Chair Laurie Sands and Chair Elect Pam Palmer. VIII.
