Introduction to ICT Strategic Planning


The Client has developed a corporate strategy to lead organizations activities through 2016. To support the corporate strategy implementation, an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Strategic Plan is required to define the way the organization intends to employ its ICT assets to support its current and future needs. The ICT Strategic Plan will be the guiding technology framework that the organization will use to realize value from its ICT assets and initiatives, in alignment to achieve the greater business objectives set out in the corporate Strategy.

We thank The Client for affording us the opportunity to participate in the development of its ICT strategic plan and to be a contributor in developing the future of service delivery enhancement through thought leadership in

information and communications technology, for the client area.

The Strategic Plan Development Process


Our ICT strategic planning process is intended to provide framework that will ensure the appropriate benefits are identified in lieu of the Client Water business objective, employ the most appropriate technologies and systems, both existing and new with the combination of skill, to achieve the greatest impact. The outcomes will be measurable and an implementation guideline and timeframe or roadmap developed, to ensure just the right amount of activities are carried out during the strategy implementation period, ensuring no over-commitment that would negatively impact service delivery and hamper the organizations ability to meet business objectives.

The ICT strategic planning process will involve planning for business systems, information management, asset management, and information and communications technology that will support the corporate strategic objectives of Client Water. The ICT strategic planning process will also includes establishment of appropriate governance and accountability structures to ensure that corporate objectives effectively drive the ICT strategies being pursued. The ICT Strategic Plan will ensure that the ICT environment can

effectively support future business needs and contribute to achieving the organizations strategic objectives as set out in its corporate strategy for the period through 2016.

The ICT strategic planning process will be performed in four key phases: 1 - Develop the ICT Strategic Vision for the agency 2 - Develop meaningful ICT requirements based on current and emerging needs of The Client and stakeholders 3 - Develop a realistic and achievable ICT Strategy 4 - Commit to the ICT Strategy.
